UP FOR AUCTION IS MY 1955 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER DELUXE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED.
THERE WERE 946 BUILT IN 1955 AND ONLY 15-20 STILL EXIST. I HAVE SCOURED THE WEB AND KNOW WHERE MOST OF THEM RESIDE....ONE IN CANADA, ONE IN HOLLAND, ERNEST HEMMINGWAY'S IN CUBA, AND THE REST SEEM TO BE IN AMERICA. THIS CAR IS THE DESIRABLE NUGGET GOLD WITH FULL LEATHER INTERIOR IN GOLD AND WHITE. THE SIDE SPEAR HAD PLATINUM WHITE FOR THE TWO-TONE. THE CAR HAS A VERY OLD BLACK TOP ON IT....NOT SURE IF IT WAS ORDERED WHITE OR BLACK. THE CAR WAS TAKEN APART FOR RESTORATION IN 1987 AND THE BODY WAS JIGGED FOR REMOVAL (ANGLE IRON FRAME STILL WELDED INSIDE). THE CAR'S BODY WAS PUT ON A ROTISSERIE, SANDBLASTED THE FLOORS AND WELDING BEGUN. THE CHASSIS WAS STEAM-CLEANED AND SENT OUT FOR EXHAUST FITTING. WHEN THE MONEY RAN OUT, IT WAS PUT BACK ON IT'S CHASSIS WHERE IS REMAINS TODAY. THE CAR WAS SPRAYED WITH A CLEAR PRESERVATIVE BEFORE IT WENT ON THE CHASSIS, BUT SURFACE RUST APPEARS ON THE SANDBLASTED AREAS. THE CHASSIS WAS SOLID. INCLUDED IN THE SALE ARE 4 NEW WHITEWALL TIRES SIZED FOR THE OPTIONAL WIRE WHEELS, NEW CUSTOM BUILT STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST FROM BORLA EAST (APPROX. $1,800 VALUE), A NEW CHROME STRIP FOR THE FRONT GRILLE AREA, HEMI TUNE UP PARTS, AND NEW ACCESSORY AND BODY WIRING HARNESSES FROM NARRAGANSETT WIRING. THE MAIN HARNESS IS NOT INCLUDED, BUT THE ORIGINAL ONE IS THERE. ALL OF THE PARTS REMOVED HAVE BEEN STORED IN BOXES INSIDE SINCE 1987. THE DOORS, POWER SEAT FRAME, STEERING WHEEL/BOX/COLUMN, GAS TANK AND RADIATOR WERE STORED INSIDE THE CAR UNDER COVER. THIS CAR IS AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR A FULL RESTORATION. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE THERE, BUT I DIDN'T CHECK ALL OF THE SMALL BAGS OF PARTS TO SEE IF ANYTHING IS MISSING. THE RARE CHROME MOLDING ON THE TOP HEADER BOW IS STILL THERE AND THE GLASS IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE IS NO TITLE, SOLD ON BILL OF SALE ONLY. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR OVER 14 YEARS. Mopar-modified Chrysler 200 reappears in Chicago
Fri, 07 Feb 2014Chrysler made what was one of the biggest debuts of the 2014 North American International Auto Show last month when it debuted the heavily redesigned 200. While impressive on its own, the sleek sedan's Mopar counterpart, which was tucked away in a corner during the Detroit show, adds even more visual flair.
Based on the Chrysler 200S, the showcar had already benefitted from Lunar White Tricoat paint and meaty, 19-inch wheels (now in Satin Lite Bronze finish). White leather seats with bronze stitching accented the cabin treatment.
For Chicago, Chrysler added a Mopar body kit and new upper and lower grilles, both of which give the four-door a considerably more menacing look. The rear fascia is set off by a new bumper and a revised set of exhaust tips. The cabin is unchanged from the Detroit car.
Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.
2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat revealed [UPDATE]
Wed, 13 Aug 2014Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy - and so intoxicating - we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
