Paint
The paint is not perfect but still looks pretty darn good. It has some bubbling at the bottom portion of each rear trailing wheel arch. Also minor bubbling at the bottom of each door. It also has two cracks in the paint as shown in the pictures.

Interior
The interior is in good, to very good condition.

Drivetrain
The car runs and drives well. The engine has great power and the transmission shifts fine. However please be advised that the car is over-due for cam belts and water hoses to be replaced.

About
The European base model series 1 GT4's are arguably the most desirable of all GT4's produced. They are prized for their unspoiled "brilliance of simplicity". They hold truest to the original Ferrari/Bertone design before government bureaucrats mandated big bumpers and emissions control. They make more power then the USA version. And wow, the low profile chrome bumpers are just so cool!

FYI
The previous owner glued red vinyl over the instrument cluster fascia. It's no big deal to change it back to original if so desired.

Summary
I would describe the car as a "survivor plus". Meaning: It's "all there" but just needs a little TLC. Take advantage of this rare find. Gems like this don't come around too often.

Ferrari California T has a turbo V8 lurking under new nose [w/video]

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

The Ferrari California might technically be the Prancing Horse's entry-level model, but there is nothing basic about the latest upgrade for the California T. Showing its face to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, it is now propelled by a 3.9-liter, turbocharged V8 with 560 horsepower and 557 pound-feet of torque, which equates to an extra 70 hp and a 49 percent increase in torque over the previous engine.
The forced induction mill is enough to accelerate it to 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds. Also not that many Ferrari buyers are going to care, but the switch also means a 15 percent improvement in fuel economy. Oh, and based on the video preview below, it sounds pretty good, too.
While the new engine is certainly the headline grabber, there are other upgrades as well: a top that closes in 14 seconds, new steering box, improved magnetic dampers and an upgraded traction control system. Pininfarina also reshaped the nose to make it more look like Ferraris of the 1960s. This is seems to be the best looking and performing California yet.

Race Recap: 2014 Malaysian F1 Grand Prix [spoilers]

Sun, 30 Mar 2014

The Malaysian Grand Prix is always one of the jokers on the Formula One calendar: you know it's going to rain during the weekend, but you don't know when. This year it began during qualifying, the dammed up clouds over the Sepang track dumping their reservoirs just before Q1 and causing a 50-minute delay.
The conditions helped Infiniti Red Bull Racing close the gap on Mercedes AMG Petronas and split the Silver Arrows cars, Sebastian Vettel lining up in second on the grid behind pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton, ahead of Nico Rosberg. Fernando Alonso recovered from a suspension-damaging incident with Toro Rosso driver Daniil Kyvat to take fourth, followed by the second Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo in fifth, then the off-form Kimi Räikkönen in sixth in the second Ferrari, Nico Hülkenberg in the Force India, star rookie Kevin Magnussen in the first McLaren ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne in the Toro Rosso, and Jenson Button in the second McLaren finishing up the top ten.
After that, though, the clouds decided they were done with F1. Save a few drop at the final corners during the race, the track stayed completely dry. And except for the beginning and the end, for the most part, so was the race.

Infographic: Comparing the Veneno, LaFerrari and P1 supercars

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

This year's Geneva Motor Show served as the launch platform for three of the world's latest and greatest supercars. The Italians brought us the Lamborghini Veneno and the Ferrari LaFerrari, while the British unveiled the production version of the McLaren P1.
To put the three in better perspective - as if any of us will ever fully comprehend trio of million dollar coupes - the Aussies at Motoring.com built an infographic (click above to enlarge) that outlines what makes each of these cars so spectacular. Using unique colors to represent each of the vehicles, the team put together a variety of charts that focus on vital statistics, pricing, total production run and other parameters all designed to ease the process of digesting an overabundance of exotic goodness. We have uploaded the graphic full size in this link.
