Truck has 78,666 original miles. 302 V-8 and automatic transmission. Engine runs good, and transmission seems to shift well. Original paint & interior truck has never been restored Glass is in excellent shape with no cracks or dings Truck is very solid with almost no rust. Floors are solid truck has never been wet inside. Bed has no rust holes or spots. Does have one rust place around back quarter panel that I have tried to show We have left truck as found we haven’t washed truck. Truck is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Truck will need a complete servicing before driving. Truck was last inspected 2002. Tires are in good shape but are dry rotted Truck runs and will drive but brakes are a little weak and should be serviced before driving Has a new radiator installed Body is in excellent shape - body panels are straight and fit well One owner truck purchased new at Steve White Motors Hickory, NC Truck has never left the area since purchased new Always garage kept. Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Thu, 19 Jun 2014Custom cars generally fit into neat little boxes in terms of how they are used. For example, you're unlikely to see a modded Corvette going rock crawling; it's just not what it's made for (though we bet it'd look awesome, for a minute). In the same way, chopped, channeled and customized '50s hot rods aren't really meant to go racing. They look great and go fast, but they are generally more cruisers than sports cars.
However, if this video is any indication, the people of Finland don't adhere in these stereotypes, because this rodder is happy to play in the dirt with his lead sled.
According to the video, the driver is a member of the Ford-Freak Club of Finland, and he clearly knows how to have some fun. Possibly inspired by his country's great rally drivers, he gets the tail way out going around this gently curving gravel track. The stunt is somewhat reminiscent of the stock cars races on the sand at Daytona Beach, and this is probably close to what it sounded like too.
