bought the car last year to take the family in but the wife wants a more traditional hot rod so the Galaxie needs a new home!
Title in my name in hand. 1964 Galaxie 390 factory z code car 2 door hardtop just rewired the ENTIRE car front to back with a Ron Francis wiring harness. The gauges work but I need to install a new fuel sending unit (i have one but havent stopped driving the car long enough to put it in!) and a new temp sending unit (also have it) to run the gauges.Gauges tested out as they should and work. bench seats (front has a couple rips along the stitching as seen in the pics), rear is about perfect. added rear seatbelts stainless exhaust car sounds and runs great disk conversion done in the front, drums in back brand new rear tires Torque thrust style aluminum mags newer dual master cylinder have all power steering equipment but i installed a manual steering valve brand new aluminum radiator trans rebuilt last year (have receipt) for $600 new windshield last year posi rear axle no heater, radio is sitting in there but no speakers, wipers work, horn works (needs a relay to be louder), turn signals work, stoplights work, brakes work well what it needs: the paint is a 80's/90's chameleon paint that changes from green to purple to a deep black based on sunlight and time of day. generally it looks black but in the right light it changes. Sadly the hail storm did a lot of small dings mostly to the hood. decklid and roof obv. though the side panels of the car are still in great shape and the body itself is extremely straight and rust/rot free. very little bondo on the car as its a Tennesse car and has only been in new england for 1 season. . lower doors and doorjamb, rockers etc are in excellent shape. when driving or from 20 feet you cant tell but i want to be upfront. the car fires up even in 20 degree weather and runs great. did more than 1k miles in 2 months this year. it's not a show car but a very respectable driver you can get in and go now. needs window cranks for the rear windows and the front smaller windows. other than that its how far you want to take it. if i were to keep it id fill the hail dents and paint it black and flake the roof and be done. but the wife wants a traditional 40-50s hot rod so thats where im at and i cant have both. the car is a paintojob and some small interior things like window cranks away from being killer. even as is it's still bad a$$ and mean. gets compliments and thumbs up everywhere. i drive it often and hate to part with it. currently registered and insured and inspected. no trades unless its a running pre 1979 harley shovelhead or panhead FLH. |

NHTSA opens investigation into Ford Explorer PI brakes
Wed, 27 Aug 2014This year more than most, it's pleasant when we can string together a few days without word of an automaker or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announcing a bunch of new recalls. It's seemingly been a little quiet on this front lately (barring a spider-related Suzuki issue revealed early today), but now we have word of the government safety agency opening a Preliminary Evaluation into the 2013 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, a probe that could potentially affect an estimated 20,000 vehicles.
The issue being investigated concerns failures of the front brake hose on the vehicle that show "small splits in the hoses near the body side ferrule of the hose assembly," according to the agency, and the issue could result in longer stopping distances. The feds have reports of 13 malfunctions affecting 11 Explorer units. However, it's important to note that all of the incidents come from a single, unnamed metropolitan police fleet that operates 46 of them. According to The Detroit News, the failures generally took place between December and July.
NHTSA is investigating further to find if this is a more widespread issue than just this one fleet. Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker confirmed to us, "We are cooperating with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do." Scroll down to read the agency's report.
Ford Transit gets outfitted for prison duty
Wed, 24 Sep 2014Between the Taurus-based Police Interceptor, the Explorer-based Police Interceptor Utility and the F-150 and Expedition special service vehicles, Ford has no lack of offerings for law enforcement. And now it has one more in the form of the new Transit PTV.
Based on the fullsize Transit van, the Prisoner Transport Vehicle can move as many as 12 prisoners in three separate compartments between detention facilities. Created in collaboration with Pennsylvania-based Havis Prisoner Transport Solutions and with input from Ford's Police Advisory Board, the Transit PTV takes advantage of the Transit's considerable configuration options that include three roof heights, two wheelbases, three lengths and four body-styles - not to mention engine options that include the flex-fuel 3.7-liter V6, 3.5-liter EcoBoost and 3.2-liter Power Stroke diesel.
"Transit PTV is the latest example of Ford's deep commitment to helping provide law enforcement agencies with capable vehicles. This concept proves Transit is upfit-ready and designed to Built Ford Tough standards," said Jonathan Honeycutt, Ford police marketing manager. "Many Police Advisory Board members have had the chance to drive this vehicle and they are excited about it. This new vehicle is tough, smart and efficient - ideal for the needs of law enforcement agencies."
Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]
Sun, 15 Jun 2014It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.
