1951 F1 Five Star Extra - Thorough And Complete Restoration on 2040-cars
Salem, Oregon, United States
1951 Ford F-1 Five Star Extra Cab package. This 51927 mile scarce Five Star Extra cab package has been given the attention it deserves. It has been treated to a complete ground up no expense spared restoration. It took a year and a half to bring it back better than the day it hit the showroom floor. Attention to detail is what sets this truck apart and you will not be disappointed! This truck sat in heated storage for 20 plus years and it shows in that the body was incredibly rust free- see photos/video. The low mileage was evident when it came apart in the amount of original untouched/original equipment parts. Every bit of this truck was stripped down and brought back up with attention to original factory details. The body was completely stripped and has been restored to its original color as well as Five Star Extra Cab package interior colors. A accent color tweak really sets off this original Meadow Green color as well as setting it apart from the rest. The 239 CID flathead V-8 was completely gone through, fresh valve job and guides and magnafluxed with a clean bill of health. The 3 speed transmission and rear axle have been freshened up and treated to new seals as well as a new clutch. We wanted to make sure this truck lasts well beyond our days and the inside of cab and underside of fenders were treated with bedliner as well as a full powdercoat treatment to the frame. All chrome and stainless has been restored. fresh glass all around. The Five Star Extra Cab package included a good many things a normal Five Star Cab would not have....stainless windshield trim, dual visors, upgraded interior trim, driver and passenger locks, dual horns, dome light with door switches, upgraded heater, full door and kick panels....the list goes on and was ordered complete less the radio. 6 volt electrical system completely gone through and restored with brand new cloth wiring throughout with an addition of turn signals/4 way flashers. Generator refurbished, regulator replaced and lead acid battery replaced with 6v Optima to ensure battery tray stays good as new. The bed is breathtaking...oak hardwood replaced and treated. Original hard to find bumpers restored. The original 16" wheels were powder coated and wrapped BFGoodrich wide white rubber with fresh tubes as well as new trim rings/caps. The list goes on and a collector will truly appreciate the attention to detail as well as the fit and finish of this truck. Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]
Sun, 08 Dec 2013The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.
Ford pits The Stig against Gran Turismo 6 in Focus ST Goodwood run
Thu, 03 Jul 2014The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world great automotive gatherings. So, it was the perfect event for Ford to give the refreshed 2015 Focus ST its world debut in front of a loving public. It even surprised us with a new diesel-powered version, as well.
The Blue Oval really put its focus on making the ST a better driver for this refresh. It left its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder alone to still pump out a respectable 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. The changes like a retuned front suspension, electric power steering and improved interior made the hot hatch an even better place to spend time behind the wheel.
To prove that the Focus ST is still as potent as ever, Ford set up a one-on-one race up the Goodwood Hill. But instead of putting the two cars side-by-side, former Stig from Top Gear UK, Ben Collins, piloted the real model up the course, and his rival drove the virtual version in Gran Turismo 6. The two hot hatches set off at the same time to see whether reality could beat the virtual world, and the finish was actually extremely close. Scroll down to watch the video and find out the winner of this battle at Goodwood.
2014 Ford Fiesta gets fuel economy bump to 41 mpg
Fri, 07 Jun 2013The 2014 Ford Fiesta is in showrooms now with refreshed styling and new performance ST model, but it's what isn't yet available that should help the Fiesta stand out from the growing crowd of subcompacts. Aside from the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost model coming later this year, Ford recently told us that a new Fiesta SFE trim level is on the way that should put the updated Fiesta at the top of its class for fuel economy.
The new Fiesta SFE will hit an estimated 41 miles per gallon on the highway when equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. The current listing on fueleconomy.gov shows the 2014 Fiesta getting up to 29 mpg city and 39 highway, but the SFE will get minor aero tuning and a recalibrated engine controller to help bump the highway figure past rivals like the Chevrolet Sonic and Nissan Versa - both of which top out at 40-mpg highway. There's still no word as to when the small 1.0-liter EcoBoost will show in the US, but Ford has indicated that engine's fuel economy isn't expected to be released until October.
