This car is smoke free, I am the second owner.  Purchased the car in 2008 from the Hyundai Dealership.  Previous owner was an older gentlemen who traded it in for a newer model.  I have added some things: Custom made seat covers because the interior is so light and I hate stains on seats.  I have kids and I wanted it to stay nice.  We also put a DVD/CD/USB player in the car.  I still have the original stereo if the buyer wanted to change it out.  We have put 1 set of tires on it since I've owned it.  It has a brand new battery and windshield wipers.  Windows are also tinted.   This car has always been parked in the garage since I've owned it.  We wax and rain-x once a month.  My husband is a mechanic so the oil has been changed every 3,000 miles along with a new oil filter.  Since I've owned this car I have put non-ethanol gas in it.  Gas that has ethanol clogs up the engine and turns to tar, it costs more money but it helps the engine last longer.  Right now it is snowing where I live and this car does great in the snow for a front wheel drive vehicle.  I'm very happy with how well it handles.  This car also has the option to shift into manual to move through the gears as you please.  This is great to help save brakes.  This car has a huge trunk!  I love the trunk space.  They are also very roomy.  I have a brother about 6'5" and he says he fits comfortably in the front and back.  There are 3 seats in the back and the option to pull down a center console with cup holders.  Nothing is broken, everything works.  Please email with questions.

There are a few scratches on the front bumper.  One was there when I purchased the car and another one came from a parking lot.  I think someone got too close when leaving the parking space.

Hyundai's zombie obsession is just good business

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

In case you somehow missed it, Hyundai has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with The Walking Dead, the critically acclaimed zombie apocalypse show that entertains the masses while they're waiting for the next season of Game of Thrones. Fans of the show will recognize Rick, Michonne, Carol, Maggie and Glenn's mint green Hyundai Tucson, a staple vehicle for the crew of survivors, but the relationship between manufacturer and show goes far beyond that. There's a whole line of Zombie Survival Machines, as well as a special-edition production model (shown above). Heck, even Hyundai's post-LA Auto Show party featured actors staggering about as startlingly realistic walkers (TWD's name for zombies).
So what is it about the dead that quickens the pulse of Hyundai's marketing department? Ward's Auto has a great interview with Steve Shannon, the brand's US vice president of marketing. In it, Shannon describes the sudden nature of the tie-in between the show and the automaker, while describing how the company's corporate overlords in South Korea saw the results of the deal. It's an interesting insight into automotive product placement, as well as Hyundai's marketing philosophy and plans for the future (spoiler alert: the Tucson, which has had a role in the show for several seasons, was seemingly abandoned at the end of season four).
Head over to Ward's and have a look.

Facelifted Hyundai Veloster to get new 7-speed DCT, Flex Steer

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

No matter how you look at it, the Hyundai Veloster is an odd duck. With the vehicle's weird door configuration and styling that kind of looks like a modernized Honda CRX, the model is certainly unlike anything else on the road today. Since spotting one testing earlier this year (pictured above), we know that a refreshed version is on the way eventually, but that car keeps a lot of its secrets hidden under camouflage. New rumors from The Korean Car Blog suggest that the Veloster might receive a few mechanical changes to go along with the updated skin.
Among the biggest rumored tweaks is that the turbocharged model is receiving a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox as a replacement for its current, conventional six-speed auto. Another potential change for the naturally aspirated version is Hyundai's Flex Steer system that offers selectable weighting for the electric power steering.
Styling obviously isn't being left alone for the update. The mule testing earlier this year appears to show a new grille and altered bumpers underneath its concealment. The latest rumors suggest that's exactly the case with the possibility of a front end closer in design to the current Genesis, along with HID headlights and a modified hood design to remove the faux heat extractors.

Hyundai in trouble for overstating fuel economy numbers at home, too

Sat, 28 Jun 2014

Hyundai is, understandably, "very confused by the fine and the different results."
The South Korean government is investigating Hyundai and Ssangyong, alleging that the two manufacturers overstated the fuel economy figures on some of their crossovers. But while the initial investigation is being carried out by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, a separate branch of government, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is supporting the manufacturers' estimates. See Americans, our government isn't the only dysfunctional one.
