This is a beautiful Lincoln Continental.  You can't help but be reminded of the reasons it was so classy. Used for  government and corporate use, the Lincoln was a very popular car in the 60s.

 photo edit33of97_zps72072e85.jpg

The new Continental's most recognized trademark, front-opening rear "suicide doors", was a purely practical decision. The new Continental rode on a wheelbase of 123 inches (3,100 mm), and the doors were hinged from the rear to ease ingress and egress. When the Lincoln engineers were examining the back seats that styling had made up, the engineers kept hitting the rear doors with their feet. Hinging the doors from the rear solved the problem. The doors were to become the best-known feature of 1960s Lincolns.

To simplify production, all cars were to be four-door models, and only two body styles were offered, sedan and convertible.

 photo edit11of97_zps6cccd33d.jpg

There are plenty of convertibles out there to be had, but there are very few that can sit 6 large adults in luxury and style in the 60's as this auto can. Even today, it would be hard to match.

This is a very original car. The paint is original except for a few minor touched up areas. It has had the engine rebuilt and the transmission, as well as many other mechanical upgrades that we will mention in our ad.

Cosmetically unrestored, there are some signs of age, such as some minor pitting on some of the chrome. Some of the seals are showing a bit of age.

The owner of this classic Continental tells us that it is all original except for the aftermarket $7000.00 Boston Acoustics stereo system that was installed. They tried to hide all components so as  not to  take away from original interior look.

In June of 2010 the owner had the 430 ci engine and transmission completely rebuilt in this great survivor. That invoice alone totals over $28,000. We have invoices dating from 5/19/2010 until 2/3/14. The owner of this car has made sure that everything mechanical including windows and top are working properly.

There is an original spare tire  and jack that come with the car. It was taken out in order to place the rear speaker that is seen in the trunk shot.

Ford recalling select Taurus, Explorer and Lincoln MKS models over fuel tanks

Sun, 31 Mar 2013

Ford is recalling certain 2012 Taurus, 2013 Explorer and 2012 Lincoln MKS models over fuel tank concerns. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles built between July 19, 2011 and March 15, 2012 may have been built with fuel tanks that have a "marginally sealed seam" on the side. Those seams may not provide the strength necessary to protect the tank from rupture during a collision. They may also leak. The recall covers a total of 3,037 vehicles. NHTSA says that leaked fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, could easily cause a fire.
Dealers will inspect the tanks and replace them as need be free of charge. Owners can expect to be notified once the campaign begins on or around April 22, 2013. You can read the full NHTSA recall notice below for more information.

Lincoln MKC prototype spied out testing

Wed, 20 Mar 2013

As was the case with the Lincoln MKZ, it appears that Lincoln isn't wasting any time getting its newest model transformed from concept to production form. We just saw the MKC Concept earlier this year at the Detroit Auto Show, and based on these spy shots, it looks like the final touches are being put in place for the 2014 Lincoln MKC crossover.
Sharing its platform with the Ford Escape, we can definitely see some similarities between these two compact crossovers when it comes to the roofline and daylight opening, but through the heavy camouflage, Lincoln's signature split-wing grille can easily be seen and it looks like the concept's taillights will also make it to reality. On the disappointing side, it looks like the integrated exhaust outlets are being ditched for some round outlets, and we can't tell if the production version will keep the Audi-like clamshell rear liftgate.

Is Lincoln MKC cutting into Cadillac SRX sales?

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The two big American luxury brands of Cadillac and Lincoln are on surprisingly similar paths at the moment with both divisions hoping to redefine themselves and grow popularity. They're still early in the process with no clear winner yet, but things might actually be looking up for Lincoln's latest model, according to a monthly sales analysis from The Motley Fool. It seems, at least early on, that the new MKC crossover might be taking a bite out of the Cadillac SRX's growth.
The MKC launched just a few months ago and has been getting a big marketing push from a series of oft-mocked ads starring the smooth-talking Matthew McConaughey. The luxury CUV has been the popular, new kid on the block with growing sales since its introduction. While smaller than the SRX, the Lincoln starts at a lower price and offers better fuel economy.
Through June, the SRX performed well with sales up over 20 percent on average through June, according to The Motley Fool. However, July and August saw things plummet with year-over-year drops of 7 percent and 37 percent, respectively. It still far outsold the MKC in terms of actual units in a given month, but the Caddy's continued growth has appeared to stagnate.
