FABULOUS CLASSIC 1961 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL SILVER SUICIDE 4-DOOR approx. 38,175 mi

Apologies for the mileage change from 47,000 to 38,000-- gladly much lower.  The total was confused with another car I have.

This is a used vehicle, 53 years old, that has been beautifully and majorly restored.  I purchased this car from a California owner who had not driven it in years, and have spent the last year reinstating it to its former glory.  There are natural interior signs of wear for a car of this era, but in the interest of preserving its originality, these accoutrements were not changed.  The chrome letters, interior, and excellent dash are factory original.  This is the best '61 you will see for a long time.  Any owner would be proud to drive it.  Feels like riding in wad of bubble gum!

Please review RESTORATION and REPLACEMENT work done the last year:

Re-Paint original silver color, re-Chrome bumpers and trims, Moldings & Lettering removed & polished before painting, front end Bushings, Tires [4] 950 X 14 broad white-walls & Alignment, Brakes, Starter, Battery, Carburetor, Distributor & Wiring, Alternator, Fuel pump, Belts, Radiator, Muffler system, electric [4] Window motors, Air Compressor rebuilt, Windshield resurfaced, Original spare tire, new trunk lining, Owner's manual & factory rubber floor mats with logo -- with additional new ones included.  I have described all honestly and to my best ability.

Call BOB 714 / 273-2777    Please call only 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST [West Coast time]

Ask questions before bidding, and email me for additional photos. Winning bid Requires $500. deposit.  BALANCE:  cash in person, bank check, bank money order.

Thanx for looking!

Ford recalling 205k Edge and Lincoln MKX units for possible corrosion

Thu, 30 Oct 2014

After the horrible weather last winter, it's hard to look forward for the season to return this year. For those readers in much of the country, the snow is going to be flying soon, and with it comes salt on the roads. That means Ford's regional recall for the 2007-2008 Edge and Lincoln MKX arrives at the perfect time because they are at risk for corrosion.
The campaign covers 204,448 examples of the models in 21 states, plus the District of Columbia and some provinces of Canada. In total there are 186,024 vehicles in need of repair in the US and 18,424 in Canada.
According to Ford, it's possible for the area, "under the reinforcement brackets where the fuel tank is mounted" to corrode. If this happens, there might be a gas smell in the vehicle or even a fuel leak could develop. In fact, the automaker reports that one fire could be related to the problem but no injuries or accidents are reported.

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.

Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes

Tue, 14 May 2013

When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.
