A seal needs replacement, a slow leak stems from the front of the engine."

I've had this car for about 7 years, I didn't buy it from an old lady who could not drive any longer and whose husband had been a wealthy business man.  I bought it from a gentleman in Maryland who had inherited the car and did not have a place to store it.   I have always garaged it and done most of the maintenance myself as I'm a bit of a car buff.  When I purchased it, I was single and had all sorts of time to work on it and drive it around.  Now, life has changed, I'm married, have children and I simply do not have the time to dedicate to it or drive it often so I have decided to let it go to someone else who can care for it and drive it as it deserves.

The car is black with tan leatherette interiors. Has never been smoked in, no accidents.  All gauges and lights work (including the clock), all handles, pedals, buttons, rockers work with one exception, the radio.  I can't get sound out of it any longer.

I had the air conditioning system converted to R134 gas and it works well. Cools well and the controls perform as expected.  The heat works just fine as well.

As non wear parts have needed replacement, I have done so, I can recall the fuel pump, the brake servo, two calipers, bearings...

The wood inside the car was redone ($$$) a couple years ago by a firm in Michigan.

A starting solenoid override was added by an MB dealer per MB specifications.

The car as I stated earlier, has been garaged always while I've owned, and has never been driven in snow or ice; there are no signs of rust.

There is a scratch on the trunk lid from me dropping a bicycle on it and scratching it.  I've kicked my own derriere a few times over this one; it was one of the stupidest moments in my recent history.

The tread on the tires is good, I'd say about 50% life.  Spare is included.

The car does have an engine oil leak from the front crankshaft seal (I'm quite sure is from there although I could be mistaken); it is a slow leak and I have not had to add oil to the engine reservoir because of this in between oil changes.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them

Mercedes-Benz GLK coupe to get 2016 intro

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Radio chatter around the emerging small, premium crossover coupe genre has thus far been dominated by the Land Rover Evoque and the Mini Paceman. According to a report in Car, the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (shown above) has received its invitation to the party and will spend the next three years getting ready: it's said that two-door variant of the crisply-angled CUV is coming in 2016, along with a redesign befitting its sleeker intentions.
To be based on the MRA platform - the rear-drive version of the company's three new modular platforms, it will also support the coming 2013 S-Class and could eventually get an AMG version to help it compete with segment offerings like the forthcoming Porsche Macan. Not much else is known about it beyond its name: Car says it will be called the GLC, a friendly nomenclature we remember best as a Mazda hatchback (allegedly for "Good Little Car"). Internet oldtimers may remember the Mazda GLC as the predecessor to the 323 (which in turn came before today's Mazda3). Either way, the GLC is not to be confused with the larger upcoming BMW X6 rival based on the ML-Class (reportedly called GLS) which is also said to still be in the works, or the front-drive based GLA, a model also edging toward production.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught totally undisguised

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Based on the lightly camouflaged spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class we've seen lately, it hasn't taken a vivid imagination to picture what the next iteration of this big luxury sedan will look like. Even so, we now we have our first unobstructed views of the redesigned S-Class, codenamed W222, as it has just been caught out flaunting for some promo shots.
The first thing we notice about the new S-Class design is the disappearance of the last generation's flared wheel arches. Yet the new design adds even more character with bodyside creases similar to the CLS-Class and some elements reminiscent of 2007's F700 Concept, including the massive grille and vertical LED taillights. Other key details include a large panoramic roof and the narrow exhaust outlets, but the large LED-trimmed headlights and the aggressive front fascia are probably the biggest departure from the current design. With these spy shots, we also catch a blurry shot of the interior, but we've seen a practically uncovered look at the new S-Class' cabin back in January.
Overall, the next S-Class sports an expressive and premium new look, but as far as all-new designs go, it's quite conservative - a move no doubt fitting for these lean financial times.

Carlsson SLK 340 Judd is winged up for hill climb glory

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

Carlsson has been expertly tuning Mercedes-Benz products for more than 20 years now, but we can't say as we remember the outfit turning out anything quite so racy as this SLK 340 Judd that it has brought along to the Geneva Motor Show this year.
This SLK is meant for competition, obviously, and Carlsson has already booked the car to race in several hill climb events in the E1 category. The purpose-built racer should have a fighting chance to do well in said races, with a shape vetted in wind tunnel testing for maximum downforce, the SLK uses a carbon-fiber bodyshell to help achieve a curb weight of just about 1,720 pounds.
The featherweight SLK's name comes from its 3.4-liter V8 engine, which churns out a wicked 610 horsepower to go with its 317 pound-feet of torque. A Hewland transmission with paddle shift operation manages all of the thrust.
