A 45 year old Classic originally sold to D.H. Kellar in La Mesa CA on September 2, 1969.

I personally sold a restored 1978 Mecedes Benz 240D to purchase this beautiful machine.  Although I am the not the original owner I was able to trace most of the cars history over the last few years.  Car was serviced at Rudi Lusti's Autohaus (maintence sticker still attached) until the owner was unable to drive.  The vehicle was sold and improperly stored for 18 years.  The last 8 of which where unregistered.  I purchased the vehicle in June 2009 and this began my love affair.  I have driven the car approximately 4,000 total over the last 5 years as required, between major restoration and repairs that were completed.  Esthetically and Mechanically the car is all there and will require very little to be a show piece.

Insurance ACV is $20,000 in AS IS condition!

Engine - Recent 1 year tear down completed August 2013, timing chain replaced, valves renewed, pusher/spacers/and rocker arms replaced, wires, seals, distrubtor, and coils.

Transmission - refreshed minor leak from engine tear down just needs a new filter kit and seal

Electrical - all power windows/sunroof works, dash instruments, dome light, signals and flasher work, all exterior lights function properly

Finding a good running 280SE with a sound structure and a moderate price is a challenge but this car offers just that. She was sold new in La Mesa CA CA and has been a local driver since 1969. Absolutely solid, it would be fine as a daily driver or a fantastic basis for a show level restoration. New Hercules (Cooper) Whitewalls less than 2500 miles on them. Newer stainless steel exhaust completed before I purchased.  This car does not have a fresh, shiny re-spray so expect some paint fade, dings and chippies here and there which she has accumulated over the last 30 or 40 years. The panel gaps are all nice and this car is very pleasing to the eye - has even greater potential.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG rumbles on stage 4Matic style

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Bruce Hornsby and his soothing piano skills helped introduce us to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but the monstrous E63 AMG sedan needed no entrance music as it rumbled on stage. The 550-horsepower (and up) sedan sat proudly alongside the rest of the redesigned E-Class on stage at the Detroit Auto Show, but stood miles apart in intention and execution.
In addition to a choice of sedan and wagon body styles, the E63 AMG will also offer buyers the choice of the standard 550 hp or an upgraded 577-hp S-Model; regardless of output, all 2014 E63 AMG models will come standard with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
We already saw the E63 AMG's aggressive styling last week, but now we have a full assortment of live images for you to enjoy as well as the Mercedes-Benz press release, which is also posted below.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale

Fri, 10 May 2013

There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

Mercedes working on new inline-six engines

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

Mercedes-Benz will make a return to the inline-six-cylinder engine game, according to a report from the UK's AutoCar. It's not clear what's prompting the phasing out of the current array of V6s.
We'll see the first inline-six from Mercedes in next-generation E-Class, set to debut in 2016. Following that, it'll arrive as part of a mid-cycle refresh for the C-Class in 2017. What's particularly special about the new inline-six is its modular nature, which will allow Mercedes to eventually spinoff three- and four-cylinder options, with the three-pot arriving alongside the new inline-six.
In other news, AutoCar uncovered some details on the next C-Class AMG, which will ditch its excellent 6.2-liter, AMG V8 in favor of a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, although we've already told you about that. What we didn't know at the time, though, was that the 4.0-liter would be paired first with a new, seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission and offer all-wheel drive. AC also reports that a nine-speed Speedshift is in the works.
