This is a very clean, two-owner, California, perfect Carfax, Encino Stegler Dealer car, Mercedes Benz SL500 Sport with less than 128,000 miles. This car has been extensively gone through and is a no excuses vehicle that you will enjoy for years to come.

The Package adds to the sporty look of the SL with a special aerodynamic front bumper designed and installed by AMG, the famous tuner firm that specializes in Mercedes-Benz products. The bumper has projector beam fog lights in a deeper apron with a mesh air dam. To further sharpen handling, the Package includes unique 18-inch wheels fitted with extremely low-profile tires -- 245/40ZR-18 front and 275/35ZR-18 rear. In addition to their performance benefits, they look really great and in the case of this SL are in perfect condition and color-matched, a very rare option. The package was a $4,970 option on top of the base price of $82,695.

Like all 1999 SL500s this SL is powered by a 5.0-liter V-8 that produces a peak output of 302 horsepower at 5600 rpm and a torque plateau of 339 foot-pounds from 2700 rpm to 4250 rpm. Per manufacturer's tests, 0-60 mph acceleration comes in a scant 6.1 seconds. Shifting is done through the 5-speed automatic with has both cruising and sport modes.

Both tops are included along with service records, owner manuals and all the standard features of a Mercedes Benz SL 500 Sport.
( drivers window regulator needs to be replaced. front bumper is cracked at bottom, top works but leeks hydraulic fluid from hose. needs to replace hose, owe back fees of $600) .  The car is a driver and needs some tlc.

In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.

Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany

Wed, 07 May 2014

Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky

Fri, 24 Aug 2012

It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
Check out our gallery of discontinued cars above, then scroll down for more information.
