1950 4-Door Mercury Rat Rod

Up for sale is a1950 Mercury 4-door chopped lead sled.

The top is chopped 4.75” front and back. This car is a Rat Rod that I built to cruise around in. There is a lot of head room for taller people. If you have passengers in the back seat, you might want to put air shocks on the rear.

It has two spotlights (just for show), along with:

Grounding Straps,

Fulton Sun Visor,

AM/FM radio with a CD player Stereo System,

2 Power Antennas,

Laker side pipes,

All new Dolphin Gauges,

Air Conditioning,

Cruise Control,

Power Locks (not all locks are working at this time), and

Power Windows.

I took the frame, drive train, the floor pans, and fire wall from a 1999 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor 4.6L V8 automatic RWD and put the 1950 Mercury body on it. It has 4-wheel dise brakes and the suspension is beefed up because it is a Police Interceptor.

This Mercury drives very well and is dependable. It starts right up and is ready to drive home. Runs on unleaded regular gas. This Mercury will pass your state inspections.

I will answer any questions. Car is sold as is. No trades.  Serious buyers only.

Thanks.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.
