1966 Classic Austin Mini Cooper S 1275 Cc Leyland Morris Rover on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
Clean title in hand. Make me an offer. Call Alexander at 512-577-9246 This little motor is an absolute blast. The exhaust sounds mean, but not over the top obnoxious. It has fantastic handling with a tight suspension. It is very mechanically sound. Cruises easily at 75 mph and wants more. It is one beautiful example of a Mini. This thing was built to be a weekend warrior. Something that could be enjoyed on the street on those pretty days, then take it to the track and tear it up. The engine has been built for power, and is nicely done. The transmission has been changed to the new rod change because it is much stronger and shifts much better. The car is set up to be driven hard. Everything works: 4 cylinder 1275 cc naturally aspirated engine 4 speed manual transmission (The transmission is a 1985 or later rod change, not the magic wand) 10 inch alloy wheels Oil accumulator Suspension is dry adjustable (fully customizable camber, caster, height, and dampening) Brakes upgraded with best components Mini Cooper S brake booster Custom roll cage Custom racing seats Upgraded Headlights Air Horn Cabin heater and windshield defroster Driver and passenger horizontal sliding windows Original tool kit (no spare tire) Venting rear windows Dual gas tanks (fuel feeds from both tanks automatically) Windshield washer fluid pump Auxiliary cooling fan Odometer has stopped turning (actual mileage unknown) Windshield wiper motor needs to be replaced Small puncture in driver's seat Provenance: The body is in top notch shape. The body is an MKII Austin Mini. It has some of the body markers of an S, but the oil cooler mounting point has been added. There appears to be body work in the front like a panel replacement. If that's the case, then this would explain why the oil cooler mount was added because the hole could have been replaced. According to the VIN, the car should be an MKI. The block is an S block, but all the numbers are gone. The head has some of the markings of an MKIII Mini Cooper S, but some are missing. Work Performed: Oil change Replaced spark plugs Replaced the valve cover with an aluminum cover. Modified the new cover to fit the bolts. Replaced differential gaskets, side seals, and rod seal in the transmission. Added engine air filters Replaced right front CV boot Replaced starter with 6 horsepower upgraded unit (much easier to start) This car is also known as: Leyland, Morris, or Rover. $500 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction closing. This is a used car, there are no warranties or returns. Inspections are welcome. Buyer is responsible for shipping and state taxes. Bid only if you are going to buy and have the money ready. Call or email me with any questions. Alexander - 512-577-9246 |

Mini headed to North Pole to meet Santa Claus
Wed, 07 Nov 2012It seems that retailers are bringing out the Christmas decorations earlier each year, but Mini's premature holiday spirit could be one for the record books. The day after Black Friday, the "Mini Goes to Santa Claus" adventure will depart from BMW headquarters in Munich, Germany and head up Rovaniemi, Finland (just outside the Arctic Circle) to deliver Christmas letters to Santa Claus -he must have an mail outpost here for his North Pole workshop. Guinness World Records is also getting involved with this trek, by competing for a for the longest-ever wish list to Santa.
Mini has assembled teams of vehicles from 16 countries consisting of all of its current models to drive the almost 1,900 miles. Although it won't be a part of the convoy, the Mini Paceman will be in Rovaniemi to welcome the groups along with former rally driver Rauno Aaltonen who will "demonstrate his unequalled talent" while driving the Paceman. We're not exactly sure what this means, but snowy climates and rally drivers always seem to be a recipe for great entertainment to us.
Scroll down for Mini's press release, but we'll have to wait until later in the month to see what should be some pretty cool pictures of the trip.
Mini may have overexpanded, some models may not be replaced
Fri, 05 Apr 2013Surprise, surprise. According to Edmunds, Mini may be looking to reduce the number of vehicles in its range, which has recently expanded to include a total of seven offerings (not to mention the copious varieties of configurations found within each line). When Mini relaunched in the early 2000s, it did so with one model, the Cooper Hardtop, and has since added the Convertible, Clubman, Countryman, Coupe, Roadster and Paceman. It looks like those ambitions of expanding the range to include up to 10 models may have been a bit optimistic.
"When we start to replace models, I think you will see that we won't replace every model exactly," Jim McDowell, Vice President of Mini USA, told Edmunds in an interview. The brand's core models right now are the Hardtop and Countryman, and of the roughly 66,200 vehicles that Mini sold in the United States last year, these two vehicles accounted for some 75 percent of total sales.
McDowell declined to mention any specific models that may not be replaced in the lineup's next generation, though our best guess is that ultra-niche vehicles like the Coupe (pictured) or Clubman. As for replacing some of the current models with new products, the only clear gap we can see in the brand's lineup is a smaller car like the Rocketman concept, though we've been told several times that a mini-Mini isn't going to happen. Be sure to let us know what Mini models you'd like to see kept or axed in Comments below.
Mini teases third-gen hatch to debut next week
Mon, 11 Nov 2013All it takes is a small spark to set off a fire. Just look at what has happened since BMW brought back the Mini in the early 2000s. What started with a hatchback has since spawned more bodystyles than we care to count and almost as many imitators. The second generation followed in 2007, and now Mini is preparing to launch the third.
The new Mini is scheduled to debut a week from now on November 18 at the Oxford plant in England, just days before the LA Auto Show and Tokyo Motor Show kick off and on the birthday of the original's designer Sir Alec Issigonis.
The third generation of the popular retro hatchback is expected to closely follow the lead set by the Mini Vision concept revealed a few months ago, but then we already knew that, having seen numerous undisguised photos of the new car in action. Still, the half-minute teaser video embedded below does a decent job of drumming up some enthusiasm, so if you're enamored of the Anglo-Saxon retromobile, head on down to check it out.
