1986 Pontiac Fiero Makes 308 Replica on 2040-cars
Walworth, New York, United States
The car was purchased off ebay in the spring of 2012. The actual
building of the kit is posted on the Fiero Forum at….http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum1/HTML/087053.html The
owner did a great job on the kit, but had so much time into it I think he was a
little overwhelmed by the mechanicals. Also, he had badged it as a Ferrari. I
wasn’t big on everyone telling me “That’s just a fake Ferrari” and I thought
the MERA had an interesting story, so I created a MERA clone, so no; this is
not a true MERA. I started with the motor. Existing motor had a massive oil leak, and a rod knock, so I
pulled it and replaced with a 2.8 that I had rebuilt at a machine shop. The
motor was bored, new bearings, new oil pump, polished crank. New pistons and
rings, heads shaved and valve job done. Comp Cams cam shaft and roller rockers
installed, new alternator, water pump, hoses, plugs, wires, coil, distributor and
Gel battery. MSD Ignition. Motor is basically a @250 hp 3.1 liter. While the
motor was out, I cleaned and repainted the engine compartment, and installed a
new battery tray. The engine runs great, and has less than 3,000 miles since
the rebuild. The exhaust is custom, I replaced the cherry bomb muffler with a
catalytic converter so the car is NYS legal. Listed below is all the mechanical parts/work I have done ·

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
