1967 Pontiac Gto Convertible #;s Matching 400/400 Starlight Black By Owner on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
From My Private Collection 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible Real Deal 242 67 GTO Convertible
One Repaint in Starlight Black Black Interior Factory console with rare Hurst Dual Gate (His/Hers) Shifter Power Antenna Power Top Power Steering Power Brakes AM/FM Radio (Very Rare Option) 3.55 Posi Rear End Rally II Wheels
Numbers Matching Born With YS Engine and 062 Heads Original TH-400 Transmission
The intake and carbs were a NOS 65 Tripower Setup (one of the few things not original to the car but still cool)
The car is a completely unrestored aside from one repaint in Starlight Black, and maintenance items. Exhaust is a New Gardner Reproduction. Car fires right up and runs really well and is SUPER Strong!
Transmission Shifts crisp and the brakes stop well.
The interior is completely unrestored and looks fantastic! Virtually no wear on anything! Looks like it was never sat in!
Paint is older but still shows well! You know this car HAS to be straight to be black! Nicely detailed trunk! Quarters are original to the car best I can tell, nice fit and finish!
Paint is older but still looks great. There is a scratch that (may) be able to be rectified with a buffer on the passenger quarter panel and door.
The guy I bought it from owned the car since the mid 80's and the car was sold as part of a divorce settlement. I think the car has had 1000 miles put on it since 1985. The original owner was a international drug kingpin and the car was seized by the DEA in 1969, was the subject of 15 years of litigation and eventually sold for $8600 in 1985 by the Government with 35000 actual miles! I have all that paperwork! Cool Stuff actually. I have a clean and clear title for the car.
I have NO reason to believe the mileage as inaccurate, insofar as you can follow the mileage through the years of paperwork.
A super nice get in and go car.
Car is advertised locally and auction can and will be ended at anytime.
Call 312 622 7533 to discuss! I am not a dealer, I own a repair shop and collect cars.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns
Thu, 15 May 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
