1968 Gto 4-speed Car on 2040-cars
Gadsden, Alabama, United States
You are bidding on a fairly solid 1968 GTO factory 4-speed H.O. Rolling body. Complete minus motor/transmission,and taillight housings.Has pretty rare options and high dollar car when restored. I don't have the original motor or transmission. It came Non-power steering,Non AC,Manual brakes,400 motor, 4-speed.Also ordered Endura delete with the chrome Lemans,Tempest nose, split bench seat. This was a awesome sleeper;that looked like a Tempest OHC6,but equipped with the H.O. Option. Beautiful Alpine Blue in color with black interior. Now, for the bad. Metal replacement it needs a trunk pan, trunk pan sail panel, rear quarter lower panel patches."Not the full quarters by no means. The front fenders will need small fender patches also. All the panels can be purchased from Auto Metal Direct AMD for $800-1200 dollars. That is the only rot or rust repairs that is needed. The floors are super solid without rust, and floor hump still fully intact. Even the original floor sound deadner still intact as well.. Rally gauges and factory clock. Has two cracks in the dash pad. Front bench seat has a rip on each side of the corner of the seat. Other than that looks great! I am only selling to fund other GTO projects. In the pictures you can see the car at different stages of restoration. The current state of the car is disassembled front clip & bumpers. Only missing taillight housings,motor/transmission. The clutch pedals are still intact. I don't think the rear end is original .I also have PHS documents! This is a project with a huge pay off when complete a 68 GTO might not be a Judge, but a 1968 4-speed H.O. Sure isn't far behind! This is a investment with high rewards! This car will be sold to the highest bidder with NO RESERVE! The winning bidder will be responsible for all shipping details. I won't reassemble the car completely ,but will make sure it's ready for transport. I say again this is just a body! But a 1968 GTO 4-speed H.O. Body! Happy bidding! |

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car
Fri, 17 Oct 2014Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally
Fri, 13 Jun 2014The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
