Up for sale is this original P.H.S documented 1967 pontiac GTO real 242 car with only 76605 miles on it and believe to be original. This GTO was bought in south Texas new and stayed in Texas its entire time and was well taken care of and is a 3 owner car. The body, floors and trunk floor have no rust or the quarters, doors and fenders. Front and rear window areas and top do not have rust. The exterior paint was repainted some 25 yrs ago with the original color of montego cream and does show some paint bubbles and a few scratches but overall the paint is in good condition and yes it does shine nicely and it still has the original vinyl top. All trim and glass are original and also in great shape with only the rear bumper having been pushed in on pass side some years back. The interior is gold in color and original and in real good condition with only the drivers seat having a tear in it from getting in and out of over the years. The dash door panels headliner carpet in great shape and the arm pull on drivers door also having a tear from being pulled on over the years. The kick panels show rubbing from getting in and out of as well wich shows its originality of the interior. All gauges lights work but clock does not. Still have original owners manual and warrenty plate. The GTO has P/S P/B A/C 400/400 auto with his/her shifter. The engine was replaced back in the day with a period correct YS GTO block that still runs great with plenty of power. The transmission shifts nicely and the car drives really well. I have posted a picture of the phs document that shows the options of the car. Overall this is a really nice GTO that has been taken care of really well over the years and is in really original condition with only one repaint. NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
