Fairfax Station, Virginia, United States

1975 Pontiac Trans Am originally a 400/ 4 speed car(One of 1,640) now sports a 505 cubic inch supercharged Pontiac roller motor. The block was purchased directly from  ALLPONTIAC.COM. A Paxton NOVI 2000 supercharger is currently making 12.7 pounds of boost which equates into 650 rear wheel horsepower and over 700 foot pounds of torque. The crankshaft, rods and pistons (8.5 to 1 compression) were provided by Ohio Crankshaft. The 87 cc Edelbrock heads were ported and match by Butler Performance. Doug's Headers and a Pypes system make up the exhaust. The ignition is all MSD with a Pro Billet Distributor. The brackets for the supercharger are all CNC custom made. A March serpentine system runs power steering, alternator, water pump and  Tuff Stuff A/C!! Separate cog belt runs the GZ Motorsports vacuum pump. The transmission is a Tremec TKO 600 five speed. A custom made Strange Engineering Ford nine inch rear completes the drive train with 3.89 gears. A Hotchkiss Total Vehicle System, Hotchkiss sub frame connectors and Competition Engineering Slider Links makes up the suspension.  The car sits 2 inches lower than stock and handles impressively. The front brakes are slotted rotors and the rears are 11 inch drums. A hydroboost system ensures stopping power. Aeromotive 3000 electric fuel pump with sump, all plumbed in stainless steel braided line. The interior is very stock looking and in original condition. A Quick Fuel air fuel computer is present to read real time percentages. Battery in located in the trunk. Upon purchase, this car was sent to Farrish Pontiac where it was stripped and painted base/clear in the cars original color, Sterling Silver. No rust at the time the car was painted nor does it have any now. Floors and trunk are all original and solid. All new weather stripping, new Trans Am decals which were supplied by Phoenix Graffix. Car is very original looking but is a race car underneath. The wheels are original honeycombs which have been restored with the original wheel paint. I had it custom made by 3M. The rear wheels are 15x9, they were sent to Weldcraft Wheels where they were widened 2 inches. Rear tires are sticky M&H Racemasters. This build is about 1500 miles old and has never seen the track. It has been covered in the garage and driven only to cars and coffee. This build was completed by George Reggio at Maryland Performance Center. Youtube;   Blown 1975 Trans Am to hear this car run.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected

Tue, 20 May 2014

General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
