1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 5.7l 6 Speed T-tops on 2040-cars

US $7,800.00
Year:1998 Mileage:78600
Location:

As you can see in the pictures , the car is gorgeous.

The Good -

1. Low miles - 78500
2. Non- Smoking car
3. original bone stock - no Mods of any kind
4. LS1 Power - !!
5. Shocks are newer, brakes as well
6. Car has 3.43 gears
7. Rare color combo - Be different - Ext - 18% , Interior - 20 % of totla production in the two tone taupe color..

The Bad -

1.  In the pictures the car has four Goodyears - the reality is there are two hankook garbage and two goodyears - I have 4 Cooper Rs-3 on order , they will be here on Monday. They will be installed prior to sale, but if the vibration goes away I may just keep it.. take your chance and hit buy it now .. Life's a gamble right..?

2. I have been told that two rims are out of round causing a vibration in the car at 68-75 MPH, sterring wheel vibrates and the car does as well. Tires OR wheels OR driveshaft OR u-joints will need to be investigated as the problem. I just don't have the money to take it and have it diagnosed and fixed. This is a good project for someone that knows how to fix these items. I used to do this stuff but health issues prevent me from doing them anymore.

3. Rear quarter by the gas filler has a small dent, people tell me it can be popped out by a auto body guy, I havent investigated yet. No paint is missing or chipped, soft dent, not on a body line.

4. There are some small issues, lumbar support air system seems to not work as the passenger side does. May be a simple fix, I can't get in there to see.

5. Turn signal doesn't cancel, right, I think a bulb is out too, right front turn & parking.. Someone told me the other day

6. Seats are a little looser than I'd expect. Perhaps they can be tightened. Certainly not a german sports car in that regard.

7. Little wind comes in the driver window, that seal may need to be vaselined to make it swell. I just haven't got the energy to do it.

8. Driver window seems to not go all the way up at times. These are minor GM nuances of this genre car... Like I said this car needs someone that has the ability to tinker which I do not any longer due to health reasons.

I want you to drive the car first, make a decision etc... bring it to a mechanic if you'd like. I want you to know everything about the car before purchasing, my feedback is more important to me than selling a car.

If you are not mechanically inclined I would NOT buy this car... unless of course you have deep pockets for repairs and issues that arise with 16 year old cars.

I will not ship the car. I will NOT sell the car unless you inspect it first. All bids placed will be cancelled unless you inspect the vehicle. or have a private service do it. IT is the only way to do it.. Like I said my reputation as a human being is more important than a pile of steel. and a stack of Ben Franklins

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM

Fri, 16 Oct 2009

Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
