Up for sale is my cherished 2000 Firehawk Trans Am.  This Firehawk is an original 2 owner Southern California car.

This is not a clone and has the correct WU6 code listed on the door jam, which makes this an authentic Firehawk, and not a clone.

The car has 93,600 adult driven miles over the past 13 years.  The gentlemen I bought the car from purchased it over a Corvette so he could take his teenage daughter to formal dances and to enjoy on road trips to Palm Springs.  I purchased it from him last September with approximately 89,000 miles on the odometer.  Prior to my purchase, he had replaced the front rotors and pads, as well as a new battery and 4 new Firehawk tires.  Additionally the car passed California smog and has current California tags through next February.  I was planning on registering it Nevada shortly so I had a smog inspection done, which it passed.

I recently located to Las Vegas, NV.  Prior to moving, I installed a new GM AC compressor, new Hays performance clutch and GM clutch slave.  Additionally I installed new GM plugs and a set of high performance 11mm Live Wires.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition without the normal plaguing problems of cracked door panels.  Included are the T-Top inserts, which really help save the interior from baking through the glass T-Tops.  There is some slight scratching/wear in driver's seat (see photo).  I installed an Alpine IDA-X305S with Bluetooth, iPod (in glove-box) and Sirius satellite. During the install I paid for the additional harness which allowed for the retention of the steering wheel stereo controls.  The original Monsoon stereo will be included in the sale of the car, as will the original Firehawk floor mats and Firehawk paperwork from SLP.  Right now the car has custom floor mats which have the Firebird logo embroidered in them - - very nice!

This car is always garaged and has been babied since originally leaving the dealership in Poway, California.  It is an extremely strong runner and has had fresh Mobile 1 synthetic in it since it every 2500 miles since new.  I hate to sell it, but family conditions require me to get more of a utility type vehicle.  The car is currently financed with my local bank, so post sale, I will have you wire or send funds directly to the bank so we can ensure the title will be expedited to me for sign off prior to shipping or delivery.  I will assist with shipping drop off, should you need to have the car shipped.

I have had many TA's over the years, and this particular one will be the hardest to let go, but such is life.  Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.  I can be reached through eBay or on my cell at 702-400-4863.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
