1973 Porsche 911T Targa.  Matching numbers car perfect for full restoration. Original Aubergine painted car. Car is suppose to have low miles with the odometer reading 27,182.  I have no documentation proving this, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves.  No guarantee on actual mileage.  The undercarriage is clean and the motor does not have much buildup on it suggesting the mileage to be accurate.
I do have the original manuals to the car including the original service manual that came with the car when purchased new.  I also have the paperwork where the original owner sold it to the second owner in 74 through a Cadillac dealer in Huntsville, Alabama.  The car, from what I was told, was parked in the 80s and sat out in the elements for a number of years.  It has been in storage for the last 10 years before I bought it out of Alabama.
Original 2.4 injected motor with 5spd transmission option.  The motor is locked up and had the spark plugs out when I purchased the car.  It is complete and does not appear to be missing any parts.  Still has a factory Porsche fan belt on it.
The body is very straight and all gaps are perfect.  No evidence of any previous damage and the car is still wearing what is left of the original paint.  There is surface rust on the car and the worst is on the drivers door.  The body would require very little work to prepare it for paint.  The front suspension is in great shape for a car of it's age.  Even the rubber on the tie rods and ball joints are in good shape with no cracks.  There is a small amount of rust up front as shown in the picture and the left tow hood has been pulled off the body (I do have the hook).  Both battery boxes are perfect along with the front pan.  Even the stash box up front in the truck in rust free.
Where the car needs the most work is the floor pans from the Targa top deteriorating from sitting outside.  Also the tunnel above the shift linkage will need work.  The drivers seat back is missing, but other than that the interior is complete with original radio as well.
The spare tire does not look like it has ever been mounted.  There are two boxes of original brake pads (probably not usable due to age).  Original jack and negative battery cables.
The original wheels have been replaced long ago with a set of Dan Gurney aluminum wheels.  I do not have the original set of wheels.  The car probably came with 15x6" cookie cutters.
Overall this is a fairly easy restoration project of a very original car.  Great color and the last of the desirable years.
I have a clear title ready for the next owner to take over.  More pictures available.

The car is listed locally.   I hold the right to cancel the auction early as long as the reserve has not been met.  If the reserve has been met, the auction will go to the highest bidder.
Thank you.

This is why we love the Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

In the world of restomods, Singer Vehicle Designs is inarguably one of our absolute favorites. The company, founded by rocker Rob Dickinson, has made its name as an obsessive constructor of vintage, built-to-order Porsche 911s with modern internals and beautiful accouterments.
Xcar has put together a lengthy interview with Dickinson, covering the source of his fascination with the 911 and his passion for automotive design, before falling into his rock-and-roll days with his band Catherine Wheel. He also covers how he got into the world of modifying Porsches, rather than just restoring them. There's much, much more in the video, though, and we promise, you won't want to miss it.
Take a look.

Porsche Museum highlights history of the 911 RSR

Sat, 12 Jan 2013

Porsche has amassed quite an impressive trophy case in just about every racing series it has ever entered, and one of its most dominant machines has to be the 911 RSR from the 1970s. Taking part in various GT-class competitions, the 911 RSR managed to take home three international and seven German victories in 1973, its very first year of competition.
Not one to downplay its racing successes, Porsche has released an informative video detailing the 911 RSR's impressive heritage. The 1973 RSR model owned by the Porsche Museum is detailed beautifully on video, and we have to say it looks absolutely stunning in its vintage Martini Racing livery.
Have a look at the video below for some historic racing action, along with static shots of one of our favorite Porsche models ever created.

VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. Scroll down for a press release highlighting the automaker's future fuel-saving initiatives.
