It pains me to do this but I'm listing my 2003 Guards Red 996 Turbo for sale.  I've owned it for the last 3 years and its been really really really great.  I'm expecting my third child and probably won't be driving it much and I'd like to free up the cash to jump into a GT3 when the time is right.

Ok so here goes: I am the 2nd owner and purchased this from a fellow enthusiast that traded it in for an F430.  If you're looking for a wow color, this is it.  I always get complements on how nice the color looks. I have an organized booklet of receipts from myself and the previous owner including a fuel log for every time the prior owner filled up the car.  It is and was a very well cared for car.  I have all the maintenance on an excel spreadsheet for any interested buyers.

Options included:
1) Black Leather Sport Seats
2) Red Seat Belts
3) Aluminum door sills with Turbo insignia
4) Sunroof
5) Bose Stereo Sound System

The following modifications will come with the car:
1) Bilstein PSS9
2) GIAC Stage 2 Tune
3) Europipe Stage 2 Quiet Exhaust
4) GT3 Sway Bars and Front Brake Ducts
5) EVOMS Diverter Valves
6) TRG Droplinks
7) B&M SSK
8) Rennline Radiator Grills
9) 3M Clearbra

As you can see there are many high end parts that address some of the weaknesses inherent to the 996 Turbo without compromising the daily driveability of the car.

Recent Maintenance done within the last 3,000 miles include:

1) Diff / Transmission Fluid Flush - Mobil Delvac
2) Brake Fluid Flush with Castrol SRF
3) New Driver side Condensor/Radiator
4) All new rotors, OEM cross drilled up front and rear slotted Sebro (OEM manufacturer)
5) Alignment

There are two small half inch scratches on the hood from a rock.  Otherwise the exterior of the car is near perfect.

2015 Porsche Cayman GTS

Thu, 29 May 2014

The Porsche Boxster and Cayman will forever nip at the heels of their big brother, the 911 Carrera, and perpetuating this tradition are the latest GTS variants, which add yet another arrow to the quiver of the plucky mid-engined platform.
The GTS' performance enhancements boost horsepower by a mere 15 and shave a tenth from 0 to 60, but Porsche's clever product planners and engineers have stuck to their familiar formula in making the Cayman GTS more desirable than the Boxster for dyed-in-the-wool performance enthusiasts. More on that shortly.
Laps around Spain's Circuito Mallorca RennArena and the nearby Serra de Tramuntana mountain range would shed further light on how the GTS differentiates itself from lesser Caymans.

Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.

$1.4B hedge fund suit against Porsche dismissed

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

Investors have canvassed courts in Europe and the US to repeatedly sue Porsche over its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen in 2008 (see here, and here and here), and they have repeatedly failed to win any cases. You can add another big loss to the tally, with Bloomberg reporting that the Stuttgart Regional Court has dismissed a 1.4-billion euro ($1.95B US) lawsuit, the decision explained by the court's assertion that the investors would have lost on their short bets even if Porsche hadn't misled them.
Examining the hedge funds' motives for stock purchases and the bets that VW share prices would fall, judge Carola Wittig said that the funds didn't base their decisions on the key bits of "misinformation," and instead were participating simply in "highly speculative and naked short selling," only to get caught out.
With other cases still pending, the continued streak of victories bodes well for Porsche's courtroom fortunes, since judges will expect new information to consider overturning precedent. If there is any new info, it could come from the potential criminal cases still outstanding against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and CFO Holger Härter, who were both indicted on charges of market manipulation.
