Tires new 7/13 @9K miles, about 70% life remaining
The original owner drove the car about 4-years before trading it into his local dealer. The second owner was a
long time Porsche enthusiast and asked the dealer (AutoKennel) to help him find a nice late model Porsche
convertible as he had recently retired and was moving from Southern California to Arizona. The dealer found this
car in June of 2013 with about 8,500 miles, and had it thoroughly inspected by a local Porsche shop before it was
purchased. The Porsche dealer reported it to be in excellent condition, so the second owner purchased the car, and
flew to Dallas, TX to pick it up and drove it to his new home in Phoenix, AZ. For the next 3-years, he enjoyed the
car and took it on several weekend trips. The second owner had recently moved back to Orange County California,
and found that he just wasn’t using the car, and didn’t have space to continue to keep it, so he asked the
dealer AutoKennel to list it for sale.
While the second owner owned the car, he installed the short shift kit, new Rennline pedal kit, hard wire Escort
radar detector kit, new battery, Michelin Pilot Sports tires (7/13 @9K miles), with 70% life remaining, oil
service, brake flush, and inspection (12K miles / 7/2014 at Porsche dealer). He had an oil service and inspection
in August 2016 at Hergesheimer motorsports and they found the car in excellent condition, and needing nothing. The
rear brakes are at 90% life left, and the front brakes at 70% life left.
The 997 S is in great condition. The paint is all original and verified with paint meter. It shines beautifully
and shows minimal signs of use. The wheels are in excellent condition with no rash and the tires have more than
half life remaining. All the glass is original as well. There are some minor nicks on the windshield, but no
cracks or significant chips. The soft-top is near perfect with no tears, rips, or signs of wear. The one-touch
function of the top works flawlessly. The front nose has clear bra installed when the car was new, and it shows
some slight discoloration. The interior is equally nice. The leather seats look great with hardly any wear, just
some minor wear on the driver seat exit bolster. Everything looks, feels, and smells fresh. All the buttons,
gauges, and other controls function properly and show no wear. All in all, it is clear that this example was
always garaged and used mostly for light weekend use.
The Porsche drives fantastically and is exactly as you would expect. It feels extremely tight and still new. The
clutch operates properly with no slipping and the car shifts very smoothly. The power and braking is spot on.
This example is ready for anything from daily use to weekend spirited open top driving.
This car has spent it’s entire life in the dry climates of Texas, Arizona, and Southern California. It has not
been driven in ice or snow and has no corrosion whatsoever.
The 911 comes with owner’s manual, factory toolkit, original window sticker, 2-keys, wheel lock, Porsche flat
repair kit, and windscreen.
I purchased the car in September 2016 from AutoKennel, and had the car shipped to Virginia in an enclosed carrier.
The car arrived clean and easily passed the Virginia State inspection. I had the car inspected and driven by local
sports car expert Jim at Tire America in Newport News, VA, and he indicated it was an extremely nice car. I
purchased the car with 21,887 miles, and put about a 1,000 miles on the car.

Listen to the Porsche Macan's exhaust note ahead of its LA debut

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

As if we need further proof that the Porsche Macan won't just be another small CUV, it'll be a small Porsche CUV, the German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
The raspy sound coming from one of the Macan's two turbocharged V6 engines sounds great (the video isn't clear as to whether we're listening to the base 3.0-liter or the Turbo model's 3.6-liter engine), and it's accompanied by a nice crackle on overrun. It isn't like a 911 or other flat-six model, but it is more or less what we expect a Porsche to sound like. We'll have all the details on the newest member of the Porsche lineup when it debuts later this month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Scroll down for an official press release from Porsche, as well as the video of the Macan, and be sure to turn your speakers up.

2014 Porsche 911 Targa takes its crop-top off in Motor City

Mon, 13 Jan 2014

Back in 1965, Porsche invented the 911 Targa as a matter necessity. Believing that a finicky National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was prepared to outlaw convertibles, the innovative automaker created the half-open car as a way to keep wind rushing through owners' hair. Though far removed from those formative days, it seems as though the 2015 Porsche 911 Targa has come to the Detroit Auto Show with a new-school version of some old-school tech.
While the last Targa featured a trick sliding glass roof at the touch of the button, the new car dramatically swallows a traditional-looking panel via an exceptionally complex-looking mechanical operation. The net result is "the same fun factor and freedom" that can be had with a complete convertible, though with slightly more open-driving protection while underway.
And, as is the case with all of the current 911 range, getting underway can be done with reasonable rapidity. The entry-level Targa 4 rocks a 350-horsepower, 3.4-liter flat-six engine just behind the rear axle, making that car good for 175 miles per hour at the top end (with the seven-speed manual, 174 mph with PDK) and a 0-to-60 sprint of 4.6 seconds. The Targa 4S, meanwhile, offers 400 horsepower from 3.8-liters of boxer six, runs to 60 in 4.2 seconds and hits a top "track speed" of 183 mph.

Ferrari return to Le Mans looking more likely?

Wed, 18 Dec 2013

Statements made by Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo may indicate that the Italian brand could return to a form of racing it's been absent from for 40 years - prototype racing. That's right, LMP1 could see a factory Ferrari team for the first time since 1973, if a report from ESPN F1 is to be believed.
"We have won with the 458 GTE, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home," Montezemolo said. "Maybe we should give it some consideration..."
These seemingly idle, off-hand comments might not hold much water, were rumors about Ferrari's return to prototype racing not swirling as recently as August. There's also the fact that the upcoming, 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 being used for Formula One complies with the Automobile Club de l'Ouest's own LMP1 regulations, according to ESPN. Finally, Ferrari returning to Le Mans might also explain this video of a camouflaged Ferrari LaFerrari testing a new turbocharged engine, which we showed you a few weeks back. There's a fair chance that what we're actually seeing in that video are the early stages of a new Ferrari prototype testing.
