My father, a Porsche enthusiast since the early 1950s, found and bought this car in 2004 for a friend who lived in Oregon. After that friend passed away in 2011, my father bought it back and had it shipped to his home in Minnesota where it was stored in a garage and never driven in the winter. When he got sick in 2012, several of his friends from the Nord Stern region of the PCA volunteered to clean the car and give it a thorough tune up. If there's something you'd like to see that isn't pictured, let me know and I'll see what I can do. The car looks, runs, and drives great. There is rust on the undercarriage, and while I don't know the extent of it beyond what is seen in the photos, I know my father had two replacement pieces for the exhaust system that he wanted sold with the car. As he wished, they're included (photos on the google drive) I know very little about the mechanical specifics of this vehicle or 914s in general, but I'm happy to try and find answers for any questions you may have. I'll be driving from Minneapolis back to the Denver area a few days after the auction ends. It might be possible to tow the car behind me if the buyer lives somewhere along my route. |

2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
Fri, 19 Jul 2013I don't care who you are; when a new Porsche 911 rolls up in your driveway, that's a pretty good day. This was my very first experience with Porsche's 991 911, and after having spent time with just about every tune and trim of the last car, I was hotly anticipating comparing and contrasting.
Somehow (I don't remember sending out any cash-filled, unmarked envelopes) I'd scored a week in the 911 Carrera 4S over a long holiday weekend, too. That meant that I'd get to A) log a ton of miles in one of the best cars in the world, B) get to show-off the Porsche to family and friends and C) tempt cops in three states to pull me over. Good thing I've got the Autoblog traffic lawyer on speed dial...

'Ring Queen Sabine Schmitz battles Ron Simons in Porsche vs Ferrari scrap

RSR Nürburgring recently took the time to pit Sabine Schmitz and her slightly modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS against Ron Simons and his Ferrari 458 Italia in a sparring match around the infamous Green Hell. The clip begins with the two drivers engaging in a smidgeon of smack talk before the two get down to the business of beating each other's doors off around one of the most challenging courses in the world. Simons calls his car superior to Schmitz's 911, while Schmitz says she's up against nothing more than a Fiat driven by an old Dutch man.
Don't hold any punches, you two.
We won't spoil the finale for you, but we will say the tango is worth watching. At the end, the loser calls for a rematch. We can't wait to see that throwdown. Check out the clip below for yourself.
Porsche celebrates Le Mans return with Martini edition 911
Tue, 10 Jun 2014If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times - but we'll gladly say it again: there are few racing liveries as iconic as Martini. And while those stripes have adorned countless Lancia and Ford rally cars, grand prix racers (like the latest Williams) and even speedboats, they remain inexorably tied to Porsche. Fortunately that point is not lost on Porsche itself, which has lately put them on its own 918 Spyder, race-spec 911 and all manner of merchandise. And this is the latest.
To celebrate its return to Le Mans this year, Porsche Exclusive is offering this special Martini Racing Edition. It's based on the 911 Carrera S, which means the more potent 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horsepower, but upgrades, as you might have guessed, with a whole mess of Martini Racing stripes and logos, along with the Aerokit Cup front and rear spoilers. The badges and stripes abound inside as well, where you'll also find such optional extras as the Porsche Communication Management system, Bose audio and black leather electric sport seats.
Porsche is offering the 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition in either white or black, but unfortunately not in our market - just in Europe, China and Latin America. Those who miss out will (in certain markets anyway) be able to order the decal set separately though. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
