Fully Restored 1970 914-4. Beautiful Collector Car! Top end of engine was rebuilt recently (rings replaced, valve job, etc). Carburetors were rebuilt and balanced. Professional Custom Paint Job. All new upholstered interior and carpeting by Sierra Furniture in California. I've had the car for 10 years and just don't drive it enough. I took the car to a Porsche Clinic a few years ago and the techs were impressed on how solid the undercarriage was and how absolutely minimal rust the car had underneath. I have over 150 pictures not only of the finished car but also of the engine rebuild done a few years ago. A new flyweel, clutch plate and disc was replaced in 1986. In 1988, the engine was replaced by Bow-Wow Inc. out of Seattle, WA. (All paperwork in my possession). Mileage is unknown. Odometer has never worked since I've had the car in possession. 1986 Porsche 959 Prototype at Barrett-Jackson sees gavel fall at $440,000 [UPDATE: w/video]
Sat, 19 Jan 2013Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.
The 959 prototype can't be driven on public roads, as it carries no such certification. Somehow, we doubt that matters all that much to the new buyer - this one is probably going to be sitting in a collection. When the gavel finally fell, bidding had reached $400,000, plus a 10-percent buyer's fee.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet spotted testing in the nude
Tue, 16 Jul 2013The Porsche 911 wouldn't be the Porsche 911 unless there were twenty-something different models to choose from (note: we are not complaining), and the latest one was just spied by our trusty photographers out on Germany's Nürburgring. Feast your eyes on the 911 Turbo Cabriolet - the droptop version of the new Turbo wonder that debuted in May - looking all sorts of stealth in its black-on-black-on-black prototype scheme.
Mechanically, the 911 Turbo Cab should be identical to the fixed-roof version, meaning a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six engine will live in the car's rump, putting out something like 520 horsepower. Of course, there's also the hotter Turbo S version of the coupe, and we expect that to get the droptop treatment, as well, with 560 horsepower on tap. The added weight of the folding top and additional structural supports will likely make for slightly slower 0-60 times for both cars, though considering the base Turbo will hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds, "slower" is a very relative term indeed. All that force will run to the ground via all-wheel drive, managed by Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
The wide stance of the 911 Turbo Coupe carries over to the Cabriolet, no doubt fitted with the same (standard) 20-inch wheels. Inside, the usual luxury amenities will be on hand, along with nearly endless customization options.
