1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
(Long Wheel Base)

Conveniently located in Chicago's WEST Suburbs !!!

NO RESERVE !!!

Happy New Years !!! I will be liquidating several classic Rolls Royce & Bentleys over the next few weeks, I've decided it's more logical to have a nice late model car (Rolls/Bentley), then a dozen classics. Although I will ALWAYS admire the classic styles and elegance these cars offer, I'd like to get a newer Bentley Arnage or Flying Spur. Dealers are encouraged to contact me.

I've added this car most recently to my collection, it was offered to me by a close friend who has been selling Rolls & Bentleys for 45+ years. He sold the car to a doctor in 1986, I'd assume the doctor used it regularly up to 1991. In 1991 the car was at "Albers Rolls Royce", now "Bentley of Zionsville" for service and as a record of that. From 1991 to NOW the car has had less than 1,000 miles added. Yes... Sitting is NOT good for these high profile cars. A new battery was installed and it started. Later, a pair of floats were added as the originals had sank in the carbs. It was then flat bedded to a well known Chicagoland Rolls Royce facility in Cary, Illinois where the oil and filter where changed, a leaky break line was replaced, and brake pump # 1 was rebuilt. I had the car returned home and was able to ride it around the neighborhood a little bit, it has since then popped another brake line (left rear wheel). I've cleaned the car up and simply decided to sell it "as is" as I'm a little overwhelmed with many things at the moment. Every car has a story & now that you know this cars story, I welcome any calls with further questions, I can be reached @ 847-826-2584.

Specifications:

Chassis #: LRE23314

Body: White, free of any major damage or scratches. Light/minor surface rust on rockers (area behind front wheels) & one very small chip in the paint on the left quarter panel. The paint would buff up very nice. I believe the car to have been painted (but over 25 years ago), but still looks sharp. To those that anticipate a pebble beach quality car for less then $10000, this isn't you're lucky day. It will tidy up nicely & NOT require a repaint.
Interior: Navy Blue. Still has a nice color to it and minimal wear. Still has a distinct rich smell of high quality leather. The wood is very nice too, drivers door has a few minor cracks. Carpet & headliner in above average condition. The ever flex top remains in good condition.

***The car is currently leaking brake fluid, it cannot be driven. Therefore it must be transported (I can assist with Chicago area). If you're out of state or even further, I'd suggest getting a shipping quote prior to bidding or connect with my Rolls technician to at least get the leak taken care of. I'm listing it cheap and as I said before I'm letting go of almost a dozen Rolls/Bentleys to help acquire a late model Bentley. This Rolls Royce (LRE23314) is sold "as is".***

No reserve !!! This car will sell to the highest bidder !!!

Thanks,
Jason (847)826-2584

Please ask for detailed pictures of areas or even better, come see it.

I reserve the right to end this auction early. I have advertised the car elsewhere. I will sell and resist another immediately.

Wafting In The Fastest And Most Powerful Vehicle RR Has Ever Made
It is said that Rolls-Royce co-founder Sir Henry Royce once proclaimed: "Take the best that exists and make it better: When it does not exist, design it." The second part of that quote is most curious, as the century-old automaker recently introduced an all-new Ghost-based coupe with no apparent peers - a two-door boasting a 624-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V12 with rear-wheel drive and sleek fastback styling.
Yet despite its specifications, it was never planned to be a sports coupe. Rather, the British automaker tells us that it was thoroughly engineered to be, "a car where the sense of arrival and joy of the journey are as important as the canvas upon which it is drawn." Whatever that means.

Giles Taylor succeeds Ian Cameron as head of Rolls-Royce design

Thu, 28 Jun 2012

Back in the day, a Rolls-Royce looked pretty much the same as a Bentley, but with a different grille. Once BMW took over Rolls-Royce, however, it was faced with the challenge of visually separating itself from its former sister brand. And most would agree that it did so pretty well. But its cars have looked pretty much the same ever since. What Rolls-Royce needs, then, is a bit of a design shake-up. And that's just what this latest appointment could bring.
After a baker's dozen years as design director at Rolls-Royce (and twenty years designing for the BMW Group altogether), Ian Cameron is retiring from his post. In his place, Rolls-Royce has named Giles Taylor as its new director of design. In his new capacity, Taylor will report directly to BMW Group chief designer Adrian van Hooydonk, and be responsible for all design matters related to the Rolls-Royce brand and its products.
Taylor was promoted to the role from his previous position as head of exterior design for the marque, a position he's held for barely more than a year. We'll be eagerly watching to see what the veteran British car designer has in store for the future of Rolls-Royce. In the meantime you can read the full announcement below.

Aeroboat packs 1,100 seahorses of Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 power

Wed, 21 May 2014

We don't typically cover boats here - this is, after all, Autoblog and not Aquablog - but every so often something comes along that makes us want to dip our toes in the water, whether it's a Jaguar-designed speedboat, a Gulf-liveried megayacht or a Lamborghini-powered Riva Aquarama. This is another one of those occasions.
Set to be unveiled at the Salute to Style show in July at The Hurlingham Club in London, the Aeroboat is a motor yacht that seems to blend retro and furutistic lines in equal measure that would make Jules Verne proud without going Steampunk. Inspired by the Spitfire fighter plane, the Aeroboat packs aircraft-inspired switchgear and shock-mounted seats into a long, sleek form. But what really has our interests piqued is what lies beneath the stylish decks.
Each of the dozen Aeroboats to be built will pack a reconditioned, marinized, fuel-injected Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine - the same 27-liter powerplant that propelled the Spitfire. With 1,100 horsepower on tap, it's expected to propel the Aeroboat up to a top speed between 75 and 95 knots, or 86-109 miles per hour by landlubber standards, which is pretty damn fast on the open water.
