Why Am I Selling?: I've had this car since 2006 which is when I bought it with only 7000 miles at the time so pretty much a brand new 2001 Viggen bought in 2007. In 2009 due to a change in jobs my driving lessened greatly to where I stopped driving the car altogether. From 2009-2012 as the car was stored in the garage as I collected the remaining parts to complete my Viggen upgrade project which was the plan from the start. The Engine/Drive train details are what were recently installed. After all is said and done, goto smog, smog fails me on the visual and tells me I have to put everything back to stock. 15K into the car at this point... NOPE, I am not paying for stock parts and labor to put that stuff back. I am already out thousands due to this so my only choice is to sell it.

The car is in EXCELLENT shape, body straight, no dings, convert top is solid no rips/tears/wear, new rims/tires, brakes, a bunch of stuff listed below. Anything with (NEW) next to it means it has been installed but not used (I am unable to drive the car in CA due to smog) so all of the new stuff on there is BRAND SPANKING NEW! Details below...

National Electric Vehicle stops Saab 9-3 production amidst financing woes

Tue, 20 May 2014

It seems that quirky, Swedish automaker Saab might be on life support yet again. Its owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has announced that it's reducing its workforce and temporarily halting production of the 9-3 due to financial problems. NEVS was only building six cars a day, anyway.
The company put out a press release admitting its economic woes, but it still appeared hopeful. NEVS claims it's developing "a new platform on the Phoenix architecture," and it has a frame agreement with an international automotive OEM. It didn't give any specific details about either one of these assertions though. According to The Wall Street Journal, NEVS needs the partnership to lower development costs in order to stay afloat. Saab spokesperson Mikael Ostlund told Autoblog in an email that the stop in production of the 9-3 in Trollhättan would last four weeks.
NEVS says it's in negotiation to sell a portion of the company to an automotive company. Its current monetary woes are caused by shareholder Qingbo Investment Company not financing the company as agreed. "We plan to have the results of the discussions at latest during June," said Ostlund.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Saab's Victor Muller wanted to nix Griffin, return to airplane emblem

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

According to Just-Auto.com Victor Muller wasn't a fan of the Saab Griffin logo. The executive was quoted as saying he wanted to "abolish" the Griffin logo and return to the airplane emblem. Muller made it clear that if he'd had his way, the propeller would have replaced the Griffin across the Saab lineup long ago.
National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that recently bought Saab, was forced to abandon the Griffin logo due to the fact that the emblem is still used by truck manufacturer Scania. The manufacturer is reportedly concerned about potential Chinese counterfeiting - NEVS is owned by Youngman, a Chinese automaker - though it's unclear how that relationship would lead to illegal copies.
Either way, NEVS has said the loss of the Griffin logo isn't that important to the company so long as it can continue to build on the Saab name. Muller, meanwhile, said he wishes NEVS luck in the company's electric-vehicle endeavor, but that he doesn't understand its new business model.
