Must sell my baby. I've had this since '07. It's been wrecked. I fixed most of that, but to make it perfect, it will need some work. One roll bar was cut by fire fighters. See pictures. I rolled it over on it's side. The driver's side has some markings of that. It  does NOT leak as a result.  VERY LITTLE SURFACE RUST. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS, IT HAD JUST BEEN SPRAYED ALL OVER THE OUTSIDE AND UNDER WITH BLACK THICK TRUCK BED LINER TO PREVENT RUST. That's why it's not smooth. I painted it yellow, (original color white). The paint job is not that great. I was not planning on EVER selling this. The back seat was never there, no bolts or any sign of a back seat. The head lights have smiley faces, those come right off. There are cat paw prints on the bumper, from my cat. I didn't paint over it. The doors come off, of course.
I only drove this during the summer about 3 or 4 times a year. I used it in winter to get up my hill as the 4x4 is kick-butt. She's not a fast car, as you collectors know. The engine is sound. I have only had to replace the alternator + battery since I owned it. Right now, it needs a muffler and tail pipe. that's it! Great looking little Suz here!!! Kept covered all year. I just can't take care of it anymore. Drive it away, runs great. The antenna was crushed during the wreck but I have a brand new one for you, so you can put it on. :) There is a small rip in the seat cover on the driver's side. What looks like rust in the pictures of the rear back is 95% peeling paint. There are some missing 'knobs' where you snap the top to the back door, they sell those on eBay to replace them. Reserve is low. If any bids are close, I'll sell her!

2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Motorcycle trends come and go like fashion, and the latest two-wheeled style du jour is the adventure bike. Chunky and rugged, these (sometimes) dirt-ready rides often take cues from the massive, Armageddon-ready rigs you'd find on the Dakar Rally. In their most neutered form, they can start as street bikes and adapt for adventure duty by adding taller suspension setups, removable saddlebags, bigger fuel tanks, and better wind protection.
Lying smack in the middle of that dirt/road matrix (and leaning toward the tarmac side) is the 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 ABS. A venerable fixture in the adventure scene, it developed a primarily urban following after the model bowed in 2004, though it's also proved itself worthy of tackling trails and light offroad scenarios. For automotive folks not steeped in the vagaries of the motorcycle world, the V-Strom is the two-wheeled equivalent of the late, great Mitsubishi Montero: capable, no-nonsense, and a bit of an unsung hero in the face of more glamorous offroaders like the Land Rover LR4 and the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen.

Land-speed racer Bill Warner dies from motorcycle crash at 285 MPH

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Motorcycle land-speed record holder Bill Warner died yesterday after crashing during an attempt at setting another record. The 44-year-old was clocked at 285 miles per hour on the runway of a former air base in northern Maine, before he lost control of his modified Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle and veered off the runway.
It is not known what speed he was traveling when things started to go wrong and unclear what caused the crash, which happened shortly before 10:00 AM. Warner's crew suspect there were mechanical difficulties on his last run, in addition to a slight breeze, according to the video news report. Warner was conscious and able to speak after the crash but died an hour and 15 minutes later at a hospital in Caribou. The event and runway were closed for the rest of the day as police investigated the incident.
Warner was participating in "The Maine Event" at Loring Air Force Base in an attempt to reach 300 mph in one mile. Warner's best land-speed record, set in 2011, was 311.945 mph in 1.5 miles on the same runway, according to the Loring Timing Association, a record that still stands today for open-cockpit motorcycles. After that run, Warner said the scariest part was stopping the bike before the end of the runway. Be sure to check out the video news report after the jump.

Suzuki recalling 101,000 Forenza, Reno models over faulty headlamps

Tue, 21 Aug 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of over 100,000 Suzuki models. The NHTSA recall extends to certain 2004-2006 Suzuki Forenza models and 2005-2006 Reno vehicles, These were vehicles produced from September 2003 through March 2006.
According to the announcement, the recall pertains to potentially faulty headlight assemblies. A poor contact in the headlight terminals can result in the splice pack melting, resulting in partial or complete loss of headlamp functionality.
