1964 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45LV Wagon
100% Original and Complete

I just rescued this precious gem from the hillside it had been parked on for 10 plus years in dry Wyoming.  It had 3 flat tires so now it has new 31" all terrain tires and it still retains it super custom roof rack that comes with the truck.  The frame on this rig is very solid but there is some rust which I have taken pics of.  I had no expectation of it starting, however, after putting a new battery in, she fired right up.  It still has old gas so I didn't try to drive it or let it run long.  It does need a new fuel line and I imagine it probably needs the brakes checked out along with everything else.  It is missing a few odds and ends in the pics, like window cranks and 1 interior door panel, but I found them and they are in a bucket and will go with the rig.  A couple of the doors need some adjustment so they latch correctly.  The body, roof and hood are actually in very good, straight condition, but there is the rust in the rear quarters.  I want this old gal to go to a good home and hopefully someone that will bring her back to life!

As far as the title goes.  This car was just dropped in the place I got it(I'm guessing the people thought it was just a junker) ITS NOT!! I had a vin inspection done by the local Sheriff and the paperwork is sent off for the title.  A clear title will be issued but it may take up to a month to get.

This is a NO RESERVE auction, so the highest bidder takes this sweet thing home!  Please have your financing in place before bidding.  I require a $500.00 non refundable deposit within 24 hours and the remaining balance in my hand or bank account within 3 days of auction ending.  Buyer is responsible for all shipping expenses, but I would be happy to help get her on her way.  If you are relatively close(within 500 miles or so) I would personally deliver for a fee.

I love old classic cars so if one of you have something you think I may like, let me know and I might be up for a trade!

HAPPY BIDDING EVERYONE!!

Toyota settles for $3M after being found liable in sudden acceleration case

Sat, 26 Oct 2013

A jury has decided that faulty software was to blame for a crash involving a 2005 Toyota Camry that killed one woman and injured another. This is the first time Toyota has been found liable by a jury in a lawsuit involving sudden acceleration claims. Toyota has maintained that driver error is the most likely cause for cases of sudden acceleration.
Shortly after the jury in the case, which took place in Oklahoma and centered around a crash that injured 76-year-old Jean Bookout and killed her passenger, Barbara Schwarz, reached a verdict that would see Toyota paying $3 million in compensatory damages, a confidential settlement was reached. The jury, which had found Toyota liable for "reckless disregard" for public safety, had yet to decide what punitive damages Toyota would face.
Toyota said in a statement, "While we strongly disagree with the verdict, we are satisfied that the parties reached a mutually acceptable agreement to settle this case. We will continue to defend our products vigorously at trial in other legal venues."

Japanese spark plug giant NGK pleads guilty to price fixing, to pay $52M fine

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice into price fixing in the automotive industry has nabbed one more company breaking the law. Japanese parts giant NGK Spark Plug Company agreed to plead guilty to a felony count of pricing fixing and bid rigging in the in the US District Court in Detroit. Its punishment is a $52.1 million criminal fine and to continue to cooperate with the DOJ's sleuthing into the problem.
According to the DOJ, NGK conspired to fix prices on spark plugs, standard oxygen sensors, and air fuel ratio sensors on vehicles from major automakers in the US, including the former DaimlerChrysler, Honda and Toyota, in a scheme that ran from at least January 2000 to July 2011. The charge claimed that the company and its co-conspirators held meetings where they agreed on bids and price quotes that were submitted to the automakers.
With the latest plea, the DOJ has caught 28 companies and 26 executives for price-fixing and bid rigging in the auto parts industry, and they have collected $2.4 billion in criminal fines. In 2013, the feds brought nine Japanese suppliers down at once, to collect $740 million. Scroll down to read the DOJ's complete announcement of the case.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.
