Get your '70's Groove on with this 1973 VW Campmobile Bus....  you can party in this at Coachella or Burning Man or your local Rock Festival or follow the Grateful Dead .. or just go camping with the family and have some old fashioned fun.   Driving this Bus seems like it will run forever... the motor's top end was just recently rebuilt and now sports Dual Solex Carbs and has about 2000 CC.... it does a nice smooth 65 MPH on the freeway and shifts and steers with ease and brakes well also.. very easy to maneuver...   has a pop-up camper top (sorry i did not have time to raise it) but the previous owner said it has new screens in the pop up section...

Inside is also a tropical themed interior with Ice Box,  Sink with Faucet,  White vinyl couch w seat belts and bed, fold up table, lots of cubby holes and cupboards... has nice front seats (with seat belts) and original radio with bigger speakers in back... Everything seems to work, such as heater, radio, lights, turn signals,  windows, even the windshield wipers and sprayers....  the only thing I found that does not work currently is the horn and I am going to see if we can fix that.. even has tow hitches on front AND back of the vehicle...  the retired gentleman I bought this bus from really babied it and liked to pull his boats with it... he said he put the hitch on the front also, so he could pull his boat out of the lake, without the VW motor going under water !!!  Again, like all used vehicles, this bus is not perfect.. there is usual minor wear and some nicks, scraps, touch up paint and very very minor rust.. but virtually rust free other than that.  PS - come with a box of goodies including the big VW insignia that usually goes where the spare tire is now on the front.

Please note, I am a boutique classic car dealer in Nevada, so any Nevada residents who purchase this car to register in Nevada will need to pay a 8.1 % Nevada sales tax and a $99 documentation fee... but I have taken this into consideration in the great-value pricing of this car.

Come to Vegas to party and drive home an incredible vehicle that is quite a lot of class, fun and quality for the money ! Best, Steve in Las Vegas cell 213 500 8619

VW budget sub-brand stuck in limbo over VW standards, costs

Sat, 01 Mar 2014

Reports in October 2012 claimed Volkswagen had begun investigating the creation of its own budget brand. This came after having failed to purchase Malaysian car company Proton or produce a meaningful partnership with Suzuki, and after watching Renault-Nissan make piles of euro on Dacia and plot the return of Datsun.
For VW, more important than the question of what to call it was how to build it profitably and in a way that didn't damage the VW brand. According to a report in Autocar, a satisfactory answer still hasn't been found. The hurdle is how to hit "'necessary' quality and safety levels" at the price points needed to make the venture worthwhile. At the time of the 2012 report, German outlet Der Spiegel said VW was trying to get prices down to 6,000 to 8,000 euro ($7,784 to $10,379 US), about two thousand to four thousand euro under the price of the VW Up and in line with the cost of a 6,790-euro Dacia Sandero in Germany.
In March 2013, VW announced, "We want to bring a true budget car to the market in China in the foreseeable future," the most concrete move in that direction after years of planning to make a decision. Working with local Chinese maker FAW, it was predicted that the vehicle in question would appear around 2016, but as of November last year a final vote on it needed to wait until this year because "We are still working on the cost side" and profit possibilities for a car that "has to be durable, it has to be precise, it has to be safe."

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

VW Golf Sportsvan succeeds Golf Plus in Frankfurt

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Just ahead of this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced the world premiere of its Golf Sportsvan, a near-production concept that succeeds its Golf Plus. VW describes this compact family car as "one of the most versatile vehicles of the compact class," noting that it offers a mix of hatchback and minivan features in a sporty package.
That sportiness comes from the Sportsvan's styling (perhaps more sleek wagon than minivan) and performance features it shares with the Golf GTI - including the XDS+ electronic differential lock, which is integrated into the Electronic Stability Control system to improve agility. At the same time, the Sportsvan's six engine options, which include a turbodiesel, are up to 19-percent more fuel-efficient than their predecessors.
