1984 Volvo 240 Turbo Wagon With Many Aftermarket Parts, For Parts on 2040-cars

Year:1984 Mileage:137195
Location:

Milton, Wisconsin, United States

Milton, Wisconsin, United States

The ideal person to buy this car is someone who is starting from scratch at modifying a Volvo 240, who has a decent body and engine and needs all the upgrades.  And a little space to store this car while they take parts off.  And a little time on their hands to do all that.

The car has been sitting for about seven years.  It drove itself to where it's been parked since, overheating in the process.  Best to not expect to start this engine and bring it back from the dead.

The parts:

IPD:
Front and rear Sway Bars (25mm both; rear installed, front not installed)
245 Lowering springs (Front installed; rear not installed)
Early adjustable camshaft gear (loosen bolts and infinitely adjustable)
Upper 242GT strut tower-to-firewall braces
Lower subframe stressbars (never installed)

Steve Buscina strut tower brace in red/black powdercoat
GTS brand headlight covers
Custom 2.5" stainless turbo-back exhaust system with Catalytic convertor and muffler.  Side exit ahead of passenger rear wheel (exhaust tip needs to be bent after curb strike, or whatever happened)
"K" cam installed
B23 intake manifold
Full Volvo Intercooler setup from early 740 Turbo, including compressor bypass valve.
Koni Special ("reds", adjustable) struts and rear shocks (I can't say enough good things about these shocks - loved 'em even better than Bilstein and Koni Sports I've had!)
Original strut inserts to come with car (FWIW)
Full complement of original Turbo gauges, plus the most excellent outside thermometer.
Black leather front seat headrest pads
Cruise control

All the various chassis bits (tie rods, balljoints, brakes with PBR pads, etc) were in excellent condition when it was last out.  Some of those things should still be good.  Not sure about he hydraulics.

There's a host of related parts that I could maybe dig out, depending on your interest.  These include a full set of SuperPro poly bushings that were never installed, the original "T" turbo camshaft, an "A" cam, not sure what else.  If you're really interested and are nice to me, I might consider letting go my R-sport steering wheel and adapter and the rare-as-heck dashtop gauge cluster (goes where the dashtop speaker usually is) for additional $$.

I'm keeping the Turbo rims - car will come with set of random wheels to roll on.

I might be able to assist with delivery of this vehicle - but it would be best to trailer it (I don't own a full trailer).  Contact me before bidding if you're interested in anything other than picking it up yourself.

Sweden's Prince Carl Philip to race for Volvo in STCC

Tue, 04 Dec 2012

Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte has it good. He is a member of the Swedish Royal Family, he dates a model and he has been voted by Forbes as one of the "20 Hottest Young Royals." If that were not enough, he is a fairly successful racecar driver. The latter has earned him a spot on the Volvo Polestar racing team for the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The prince will be piloting a race-spec S60 in the 2013 STCC campaign.
Starting in 2008, Prince Carl Philip began competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where he placed as high as 11th. In 2010, he finished first in the Porsche GT3 Endurance competition, and most recently, he placed fourth in the 2012 Swedish GT GTB.
As his motorsport career up to this point suggests, the prince is quite serious about racing and the STCC is the next step up. According to Prince Carl Philip, "There is no tougher championship in Sweden and at the same time as I have respect for it, it motivates me greatly." You can read more on Prince Carl Philip's upcoming campaign with Polestar in the press release below.

Heico jacks up Volvo V40 Cross Country to create XC40

Sat, 24 May 2014

Because life isn't fair, we don't get the stylish wagon known as the Volvo V40 in the United States. That means we don't get its soft-roading cousin, the V40 Cross Country. So, naturally, if Volvo tuner Heico Sportiv ever produces this ruggedized, XC-styled V40 Cross Country, it most certainly wouldn't cross the pond, either.
That makes us sad, because despite holding a tiny bit of contempt for small luxury crossovers, this is a very, very cool looking vehicle. It's just a render right now, but Heico Sportiv is looking to offer the kit to V40 Cross Country owners who want a smaller version of the Volvo XC60.
Converting a V40 CC into an XC40 would start with some suspension tweaks. The ride height would be raised by just over an inch, in order to improve the looks of the soft-roader and deliver a more CUV-like ingress and egress. New shocks would also be fitted, as well. Wheel-arch extensions were also added to complete the look.

Stolen first production Volvo P1800 recovered

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

Late last month, we told you about a 1961 Volvo P1800 that had been stolen in Sweden. The thought of losing a classic coupe to an unscrupulous thief is troubling enough, but this wasn't just any P1800 - it was the very first production example minted, and the restored red-over-white two-door was owned by the vice president of the Swedish P1800 Club to boot. Chassis Number Two was pilfered from a Stockholm lockup on either August 21 or 22, and the theft triggered an international hunt of sorts.
Fortunately, that hunt has come to a (mostly) happy ending. According to Larmtjänst AB, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting vehicle crime in Sweden, the car was spotted by someone who had read about the missing classic. The P1800 was recovered in Hägerstensvägen, a municipality of Stockholm, after being found abandoned on the road covered with a tarp. The owner is reportedly very relieved that his Volvo is mostly intact, marred only by a broken ignition and a dirty interior.
