1992 Volvo 240 Wagon Daily Driver - Looks & Drives Great/well Maintained on 2040-cars
McKeesport, Pennsylvania, United States
I have my 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon up for Auction. Please feel free to ask any questions. There is a low reserve on the car and this car is worth every penny. Okay, a little about my Brick:
1992 Volvo 240 Wagon with just over 320,xxx miles on the odometer (yes, the odometer does work). Does not have any warning lights on the dash (yes, they work as well). Just Passed the Emissions PA Sticker Test, Good Til 4/15. I am a classic Volvo enthusiast and have taken meticulous care of my brick. It originally came with cloth seats in which the bottom cushions where really worn out, so I replaced the seats with tan leather seats from a 1990 240. Some of the Maintenance and work that has been on this car is: Normal Maintenance: Every 3 Months Changed Oil with Pennzoil Platinum, Check Flame Trap and Replace (if needed). Brake Pads Replaced Every 6 Months with PBR Brake Pads and new hardware from IpdUSA. This Spring: Replaced Hood Hinge and Alternator (Reconditioned Bosch). Last summer: Replaced Timing Belt, Head Gasket, Water Pump, Belts, K&N Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Distributor Cap/Rotor, Plug Wires and Drive shaft support bearing. Last Spring: Replaced Tires and redid front-end (Struts, Rear Shocks, Ball Joints, Inner/Outer Tie Rods, Driver Side A-Arm, Sway Bar End Links and Bushings - Polyurethane, and replaced all the other bushings as well but with rubber.) Also Got it Aligned. Last Winter: Replaced Catalytic Converter and O2 Sensor (Bosch OEM Fit). I have records from the previous owners as well, which included replacing the Transmission with a reconditioned transmission from a volvo 740 turbo, so it has a little more get up than a regular 240. Condition of the car: Engine - When I had the head off last summer, it did not have a single wear ring or mark. Engine Does NOT LEAK! Runs very smooth and has never let me down. It does need a new motor mount soon though. Transmission - Shifts very smooth and Natural. Has No Issues In Any Gear, Including Overdrive. Body - Paint is very glossy and shiny. No issues what-so-ever with peeling or overcoat issues. Saying that, there is some surface rust spots on the hood and tailgate. Nothing too major. Exhaust - Gaskets have all been replaced lately, cat was replaced last winter and IS VERY QUITE Tires - Over 85% of life left. Good to go! Brakes - About 50-60% life left in this set of pads. Lights - All Work, occasionally going over railroad tracks a bulb would get jarred lose, but that is the only issue I have had. Interior - Tan Leather Seats, Rear Facing 3rd Row of Seats In Back, Back Hatch Area is Tinted, Clean Extra's - Comes with spare tire and volvo tool bag...plus service records. Negatives: Will Need Motor Mount Eventually, Back Side Was Bumped Into By Semi Truck but I painted over it and it is good to go (See picture), Driver side door trim came off this winter but I still have it, Rear Window Wiper Does Not Work, Has Tape Player That Doesn't Work...Speakers Do Work Though. This car will get you from point A to B, and in style. Very Reliable and Extremely Safe for Families or Young Drivers (No Blind Spots in this Car!). The only reason why I am selling it is because I have 3 classic volvos and can only drive one. I would love this to go another Volvo-Crazy Family. I have a Buy-It Now for $2500 (It is worth every penny of that price) also have a low reserve. I am not a dealer, therefore I will not place a warranty on this car. I can say that it is driven on a daily basis and does not let me down. Thanks! On Apr-17-14 at 06:17:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I have my 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon up for Auction. Volvo V70 and XC70 and Ocean Race special editions wash ashore ahead of Geneva
Sat, 22 Feb 2014Volvo will unveil the third in its series of new concepts to the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but it will also bring a flotilla of special editions to the Swiss show. The V70 and XC70 are getting limited-edition models called simply Edition, and the V40, V40 Cross Country, V60 and XC60 will have Volvo Ocean Race Editions.
The Edition models outfit the cars with an extra sprinkling of style. The V70 Edition gets high-gloss black trim on the grille, mirror caps, side window frames and tailgate and rides on silver, 17-inch wheels with high-gloss black 17-inch and 18-inch wheels as options. The XC70 Edition adds some gloss black exterior upgrades too, plus high-gloss black, 18-inch diamond-cut wheels. Both models are swathed in black leather upholstery with cream stitching.
The Volvo Ocean Race Editions celebrate the brand's sponsorship of a 38,739-nautical-mile yacht race that will circumnavigate the world from 2014 to 2015. All of them sport the race logo on the tread plates, front fenders, infotainment display on start-up and special seven-spoke wheels. Inside, there is the choice of black or blonde leather seats with orange stitching. The 60-series cars also sport a map of the race route on the rear load cover.
Volvo Polestar celebrates STCC title with Black R edition S60, V60 and XC60
Sat, 21 Dec 2013The relationship between Volvo and Polestar was forged - and forges deeper still - on the racetrack, where the latter fields the former's tin-top entries in the STCC, WTCC and V8 Supercars. And based on their success together in touring-car racing, Volvo has had Polestar amp up a number of its production road cars. What we have here is the latest.
This year Volvo and Polestar dominated the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, taking both the drivers' and manufacturers' titles. So to celebrate, Polestar has rolled out a new Black R package for the S60 sedan, V60 wagon and XC60 crossover.
The package includes an upgrade to 329 horsepower for the T6 engine and to 230 hp for the D5, and further enhances with special wheels, a dropped suspension, special sport seats and more. Unfortunately the package is only being offered in Sweden, but you can scope out the details in the press release below and the photos in the gallery above.
Volvo XC90 prototype spied for the first time ever
Mon, 03 Feb 2014Despite its advanced age, the Volvo XC90 remains a highly competent luxury SUV. The design has aged nicely, and it's clear from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety naming the big Volvo a Top Safety Pick + that the safety-minded Swedes behind it knew what they were doing. Still, even the finest cars need replacing, especially after nearly 12 years on sale.
Here we have the first spy shots of the next-generation XC90, under development somewhere cold (at this rate, it could be anywhere from Arvidsjaur to Atlanta). Now, as our spy photogs point out, this is the real deal, judging by all that camo over the vehicle. There's a production body under there, rather than this being a mule with the old vehicle's skin on top of it.
It's difficult to make out much because of all the camo, although there are some similarities to both the Concept XC Coupe from the Detroit Auto Show and a batch of teaser images we showed you earlier this year. We can see the greenhouse retains a shape similar to the current XC90, although the beltline climbs rather aggressively once past the C pillar, much like it does on the Concept XC Coupe. In back, Volvo has eschewed tall, vertical lights in favor of more conventional units, which we expect to be similar to what we saw in the teaser images. We'd bargain that there will be a traditional rectangular grille, like what you can see on the concept. The headlights, meanwhile, should wear T-shaped LED elements, like the teaser images.
