1956 CHEVY BEL AIR CONVERTIBLE. NEW BODY OFF RESTORATION. FACTORY BLACK EXTERIOR WITH BLACK AND WHITE INTERIOR. THE RESTORATION INCLUDES NEW QUARTERS, NEW DOOR SKINS AND ANY METAL WORK THAT WAS NEEDED TO MAKE THE CAR SOLID. I HAVE MANY PICTURES TO SHOW THE QUALITY OF WORK THAT HAS BEEN DONE. THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WAS PAINTED RED OXIDE. THE EXTERIOR IS GORGEOUS JET BLACK URETHANE. THE CAR IS RAZOR STRAIGHT WITH EXCELLENT BODY LINES. IT IS BEAUTIFUL. THE INTERIOR IS COMPLETELY RESTORED TO FACTORY ORIGINAL. CIADELLA INTERIORS SUPPLIED THE MATERIALS USED. IT ALSO HAS DATONA STYLE CARPET WITH MATCHING FLOOR MATS. THE DASH IS BEAUTIFUL AND HAS NEW TRIM, NEW CLOCK, AND A BANJO STYLE STEERING WHEEL. THIS CAR ALSO INCLUDES VINTAGE AIR AND HEAT WITH THE VARIABLE CONTROLS IN THE ORIGINAL SPOT.
THE ENGINE IS A NEW 350 CRATE MOTOR WITH A 274 EXTREME ENERGY CAM, ALUMINUM INTAKE, 600 HOLLEY WITH AN ELECTRIC CHOKE, PERFORMANCE HEI DISTRIBUTOR, NOSTALGIC VALVE COVERS AND BREATHERS. 3/4 HEADERS WITH 2 1/2" CUSTOM STAINLESS EXHAUST, ALUMINUM RADIATOR, ALUMINUM WATER PUMP AND PULLEYS, 605 POWER STEERING, ONE WIRE ALTERNATOR.
THE TRANSMISSION IS A MODIFIED 700R4 TRANS WITH A 2500 STALL CONVERTOR. THE ORIGINAL REAR WAS REBUILT WITH A NEW AXLE BEARING, NEW SEALS, ALL NEW BRAKE PARTS INCLUDING DRUMS.
THE CHASSIS WAS MODIFIED WITH 2" DROP SPINDLES, CPP TUBULAR A-ARMS, CPP SPRINGS IN THE FRONT, STOCK SPRINGS IN THE REAR, CPP SWAY BARS FRONT AND REAR. EVERYTHING NEW. IT HAS ALL NEW BRAKES WITH SLOTTED AND DRILLED POWER DISC BRAKES IN THE FRONT. NEW DRIVE SHAFT. ALL NEW LINES.

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
