1964 Pontiac Gto on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:100000
Location:

Rosemount, Minnesota, United States

Rosemount, Minnesota, United States

I have a real deal 1964 Pontiac GTO post for sale. I have the PHS report from Pontiac to prove it is a TRUE GTO.  The car still retains all original GTO items. It is originally a Red on Red car with the 389 and a 4 speed. As far as I can decode all drive line components are original except maybe the 4 speed. I can't verify the numbers on it. This car is bone stock original right down to the transistorized AM radio and full face hubcaps and original chrome air cleaner and valve covers! It runs but has NO BRAKES at this time. Car was in indoor storage for 12 years.
This car needs TOTAL restoration and has a rusty frame and floor pan including trunk floor and crossmember supports. The frame needs replacing and I would use a donor body for the main structure. The front sheet metal is in surprisingly nice shape ! This means the fenders and hood are very good! The front bumper and grills are also pretty nice!  Both rear quarter panels and doors had rust and were puttied up years ago. It is fairly easy and cheap to round up a low rust Western Lemans or Tempest to use as a donor to restore a car like this. REMEMBER, this is the first year of the GTO and is truly worth restoring. They are worth upwards of $30,000 when done!
I do have a low rust left rear quarter panel that was cut off a 2 door hardtop years ago and a offenhauser 3X2 barrel intake with 2 carbs that will be included with the car.
Owner has owned this car for 29 years. He just now decided to sell it. Car has a clear MN title.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS CAR NEEDS TOTAL RESTORATION BUT IT IS A REAL 1964 PONTIAC GTO!!!!
Vehicle is located in Rosemount MN 55068 and it is the buyers responsibility to arrange shipping.  I am avail by phone at 763-291-0343 if you have any questions.

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels

Sat, 14 Dec 2013

We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.

2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern

Mon, 07 Nov 2011

General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
