Pontiac Transam Firehawk Convertible, 1999 on 2040-cars
Hesperia, California, United States
1999 Trans Am "Firehawk" convertible. " Fiercest of the Firebirds"
This car is build number 422 from SLP. Car is in great condition with less than 35k original miles. This car is one of only 3 Navy blue convertibles built in 1999. A rare muscle car with all the comfort, power, and fuel mileage! I have included pics of the window sticker as well as the Firehawk alteration package sticker. All listed options are included in the sale. As you can see in the pics this car has many desirable options. Full power with the optional 12 CD changer in the trunk. The paint is near perfect, there is a couple bug chips in the front and possibly a couple blemishes here and there, as to be expected for a 15 year old car. There is a little wear in the drivers seat, car is really in great condition, if you are in the neighborhood you are welcome to see the car anytime for yourself, just call me to make arrangements. The top is in nice condition and works perfectly, there are also covers for the top when the top is down giving these cars a very " slick" look. The "Firehawk" logos are in great shape, the optional chrome 17" wheels look very nice, tires have lots of tread. Underside of the car is as clean as the top, California car all it's life and always covered indoors. Everything works as built, this car runs fantastic and is a real pleasure to drive. Looking to sell the car or trade it for an older classic. 69 Camaro, 62/63 409 Chevy, something a little different than I have had in the past. I can help with shipping for distant buyers, car will be released after payment clears, come check this one out, not many Firehawks come available and even less convertibles! Now is the time to buy this piece of Pontiac history! Car is located in Southern California, call anytime to schedule a viewing. 661-400-1212 Thanks for looking and have fun! |

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected
Tue, 20 May 2014General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
