Answering a few questions it has a 1997 Subaru Impreza dual overhead cam engine that has a timing belt which was replaced before the install. You can install ac in the van for about 1000 to 1500 personally I never needed ac on the east coast. The stove, sink, and the fridge all work but it has no propane in it right now. I daily drive the van everyday to work accruing 50 miles and it has not had any issues. I am moving in January and would like to sell it before that, if it doesn't sell then I am keeping it in storage until I get back. Make me a reasonable offer and it is yours!! Here is a 1982 originally an air cooled Volkswagen Vanagon camper with a 2.0L Subaru liquid cooled engine!! The car was my father's and he passed away in 2012, the van was his baby. I got the van in 2013 and began the Subaru conversion beginning this year. It is using a Kennedy Engineering frame, Go Westy stainless steel coolant lines, Kennedy Engineering trans adapter plate with stock Vanagon transmission. The engine is a low mileage (40k) Subaru JDM 150Hp 2.0L with plenty of power!! The interior was refinished in 2010 and is in excellent condition, the front seats are mint, the dash is in great condition, front carpet is faded, and has a built in rear DVD player with dedicated screen. Has a nice CD player with high quality Kicker speakers. The van has spent its entire life in the south so has no typical Vanagon rust. It does have a little surface rust here and there, I have not painted the vehicle so the prospective owner can see the original body. The Subaru engine also has the capability to add AC and power steering if you need it!! This truly is an awesome van and I would definitely keep it if it wasn't for the U.S. Army. We are constantly moving and it is not practical for our family right now. If you are anywhere between North Carolina and Vermont on the east coast then I might be able to deliver the vehicle to you. (Going to Vermont in January) If you decide to have me deliver it then I will require a deposit up front!! I have described the vehicle as good as I can but if you have any further questions you can call me at 216-215-0518 Also it has a front tow bar system which allows you to tow the Vanagon!! New parts are as following Fuel Tank Walbro 255 fuel pump Fuel level sender Battery Bosch hi torque starter oil pressure and water temp gauge Stock exhaust Catalytic converter 2 oxygen sensors All coolant lines Radiator Overflow tanks Clutch Flywheel Throwout bearing Clutch Slave cylinder Air filter Fuel filters MAF adapter Kennedy Engineering exhaust manifold I am sure there are more parts that I am forgetting...

VW to unveil diesel-electric Twin-Up! in Tokyo

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

We've received multiple reports that Volkswagen will be bringing a diesel-electric concept to the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, set to take place later this month. The car, called the Twin-Up!, is based on the Up! city car, with some sources claiming this is a thinly veiled concept that will eventually enter production.
According to Automotive News Europe, the Twin-Up! will reportedly return 214 miles per gallon on the US cycle by combining an 800-cc, two-cylinder diesel and an electric motor. It will also boast plug-in capabilities, and will be able to cover 30 miles on electric power alone.
Autocar has a more complete picture of the Twin-Up!'s powertrain, though, claiming it's a modified version of the hybrid system found in the Volkswagen XL1. The Twin-Up! will get a more potent, 47-horsepower electric motor to the XL1's 27-hp unit, but will retain that car's 47-hp turbodiesel. The battery pack will also grow, from 5.5 kilowatt hours to 8.6 kWh. Both of these increases are necessary due to the increased weight of the Twin-Up! - it's some 900 pounds heavier than an XL1.

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013

Wed, 02 Jan 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
